Do I need a passport to travel to Puerto Rico?

I'm thinking about going to Puerto Rico either for a vacation or maybe staying there. Many Puerto Rican's are on American relief; food stamps, etc, etc. so, I'm not sure.

No, you don't. We are US citizens and US territory. But we are NOT a state. Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Best of both worlds!

Currency: US Dollar
US Postal Service
Language: Spanish and English (not everyone, but you will not have problems with it)
McDonalds
Starbucks
KFC
Chilis
Macys
Best Buy
Pottery Barn
Borders
Gap
Coach
Gucci
and many many more!!!

Direct flights from New York, Florida, Atlanta and some other states. It is consider a domestic flight.

for American people living in USA you don't need a passport to go to Puerto Rico

jswartz146
Puerto Rico is a territory of the US and as such, is part of the US (it's just not a state), thus a passport isn't required (and if you've even seen the ads on TV, they even say no passport is required).

Puerto Rico is a US territory. Flying there is no different than flying to Nebraska.

If you are a foreign citizen who is flying there directly from another country, then you need all required documents for citizens of your country. That's usually a passport and possibly a visa as well.

If you are flying there from within the US, then you only need the regular photo ID that is required for any domestic flight. No one checks your citizenship on domestic flights.

No. Puerto Rico is a US possession. And what you've stated about food stamps, and other US government programs, yes, they do receive all that. Pert Rico has actually turned down, by vote, more than once, to become the 51st State as they already receive most of the benefits of being a State, without having to pay taxes. You do not need a passport. US possession. Cheers.

BaBy #1 on the way
No, I went to P.R. not so long ago and you DONT need a passport

Are you an american citizen or authorized resident traveling to Puerto Rico from an USA state or USA territory?
No, no passport required unless the Homeland Security or another agency with authority over domestic flights changes the applicable regulations.

Are you an american citizen or authorized resident traveling to Puerto Rico from another country?
Yes, it will be an international flight and passport will be required.

Puerto Rican's are US citizens, we use the same US passport. Puerto Rico is an organized and non incorpored territory of the USA.
