if you are coming from the US, yes.

No, No, and No! While a passport is a better method of travel documentation (and speedier) it is not required.

JAMAICA - Passport or original birth or naturalization certificate and valid driver's license or state-issued photo ID, onward or return ticket, and proof of sufficient funds required. If under 18, and ID card, such as a school ID will be accepted. For business or study, a visa must be obtained in advance for $100 fee. Departure tax $17 (sometimes included in airline ticket, otherwise, paid at airport). Check information with Embassy of Jamaica, 1520 New Hampshire Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20036 (202/452-0660) or nearest Consulate in New York (212/935-9000) or Miami (305/374-8431). New Requirements for Travelers

The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 requires that by January 1, 2008, travelers to and from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama, Mexico and Canada have a passport or other secure, accepted document (i.e. driver's license and birth certificate) to enter or re-enter the United States. In order to facilitate the implementation of this requirement, the Administration is proposing to complete it in phases following a proposed timeline, which will be published in the Federal Register in the near future.

This is a change from prior travel requirements and will affect all United States citizens entering the United States from countries within the Western Hemisphere who do not currently possess valid passports. This new requirement will also affect certain foreign nationals who currently are not required to present a passport to travel to the United States. Most Canadian citizens, citizens of the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda, and to a lesser degree, Mexican citizens will be affected by the implementation of this requirement.

Yes! Pretty soon if not already you will need a passport just to go in and out of Mexico and Canada. Better start the process now as it can take a few months to get a passport.

fly_your_flag_high
Yes, and don't even THINK about bringing dope back. There were dogs in the airport when I got home!

slaughtter04
You would need a passport if you are exiting or entering another, so yes you would. There are some links provided regarding passports.

missky7
yes if your leaving the united states of america to travel to any other country!!!

PS you need to have your state id when you leave your house bc you can get arrested if you can not identify who you are!!! Just a note.

Effective 1/1/06 you now need a passport to leave the U.S.

In the past, you could go to the islands with just your birth certificate and driver's license.

Think 9/11 had something to do with change.
