I have been on many cruises and vacationed at many islands. Vaccinations are not necessary in the Caribbean. Many people will say (as well as doctors) that you should get Hep A, but it is not required. HepA is something everyone should get anyway just to walk out your front door. You never know what could happen. |

You should check with the US Department of State, if you are in the US. I provide the link below. Though, your doctor should be up to speed on this, or have checked when you discussed your travel plans.
I took a cruise through the Caribbean years ago and took no extra health precautions for it. |

usually yes,but its not mandatory.im going on a caribbean cruise in 5 weeks and are going for my jabs tomorrow,i filled in a holiday form at my doctors & they gave me a list of what i need.the risk is less likely on a cruise, but the risk is still there and its up to the individual, but i would.its better safe than sorry and there free,so why not. |

If you're stopping in Mexico, best believe you do. Don't drink their water. |

It may depend on where you're going, but I've been to the Caribbean four times and never needed any injections. In certain areas there's a slight risk of malaria, but it's rare enough that most doctors don't recommend getting immunized. |

I had to have a Hepatitis A injection, but you only have to have them if you plan on getting off the boat and consuming food off the boat. |

In any case, be careful with diarrhoea and gastritis! |

No, it is not necessary to get one. We are not that backward that you might catch something. We follow some very strict health regulations in the Caribbean. Additionally we have the best and cleanest water right here in Barbados that is filtered by coral lime stone. You will probably not be eating heavy off the ship anyway just snacks. You could very well get food poisoning on the ship but no amount of injections cant prevent that.
To put your mind at rest and also to take precautions then you can get some immunizations. |
