Do U.S. citizens need a passport to fly to Puerto Rico?

I am thinking about going to Puerto Rico, and was not sure if a passport is required to go there, since it is a U.S. Commonwealth.

No, Puerto Rico is an American Territory.

You have all the same rights & freedoms there too.

No, no passport is necessary to travel to and from Puerto Rico. It is part of the U.S. You will need a passport for other Caribbean destinations however. Always check with the State Department website http://travel.state.gov/passport/passpor... for info on passports and other travel information to be sure you have the most up to date information before traveling.

No You don't.

Puerto Rico is a common wealth of the US and everyone born in Puerto Rico carries a US passport. You do not need a US passport to travel to Puerto Rico.
