Do all Jamaicans think Trinidadians do no work and play Carnival all year round?

Additional Details

i the only stereotypes i have of trinis are,

1) You guys have oil money so education is free or cheaper.
2) You have many beautiful women and many not so beautiful (fugly). There are very few women in between.
3) Trinis are more liberal/tolerant of LGBT's. (i hear you coudl even see them dancing in Carnival). Do i need to say jamaicans NUH PLAY DAT?
4) You DON'T like Jamaicans because we are too 'boastful' yet you listen to our music all year 'round!
5) A Jamaican 'mansion' is typically much larger than a trini 'mansion'. Trini society is more conservative even among people who are actually WEALTHIER than their social counterparts in Jamaica. 'Beverly Hills type' Mansions arent as much a part of your culture.

I am sure you guys WORK. And i dont believe EVERY trini person is into carnival.

Island Girl
I don't know of any Jamaicans that seriously beleive that. All the Trini's I have met are pretty smart, hardworking, down to earth and fun people. I would like to visit your country because I think it is beautiful and I love the Trini accent.

Yeah, it is pretty much accepted as fact that you guys have a lot of oil money contributing your development and allowing you to pursue social and economic policies your other Caribbean neighbours can't. And of course, Carnival in Trinidad is renowned the world over as one of the biggest and best parties but only fool fool uninformed people would think that is all you do all year round.

julien
allyuh jus let me say as a Trini meh eh have nuttin but love for meh Jam crew, sh it meh sista in law is one and she REAL nice
Yes we love de dancehall and de fusion of both music as done by Shaggy and Machel is jus but a sample of what we should continue to do.
It have some people who think all it have in JA is weed and i does tell dem it nah so.
We de same when yuh boil it dong man, is just different types of seasoning in this melting pot we call the Caribbean
Just over the Carnival i bounce up ah set Jamaicans who i knew. They love we Carnival jus as much as we love de dub
So is not about we and dem dread.
Stop de ignorant talk and start to learn about ah people

No. But I would be interested in knowing what you guys think we do all year round

Don, son of Shakka
90% of Jamaicans are hard working people, they have no time to think that shhhhhhttt, the other 10% has to be looking their daily meal whichever, however, whereever they can find it, still has no time to be thinking that shhhttttt, you on the other hand has a whole lot of free time on your hands, please use it productively, stop tinking dem shhhhttt deh.

I don't think most Jamaicans feel that way about Trinidadians. I just love the way Trini people party though. Trinis are generally so laid back and don't seem to have a chip on their shoulders. Listen, Jamaicans and Trinidadians have a lot of love for one another. Sometimes we pick on each other and talk a lot of nonsense but the love and respect are so deep that we will always look out for one another. One love.

pacamayo2001
Lol, thats a really funny question. The truth is we work hard and party hard so because you guys party hard one time for the year, wy would we think you only play. Secondly, we dont have time to waste thinking about what you guys do and dont do. trust me, none of us do.

I personally do not think so. And (as you can gather by the answers) I highly doubt that anyone else here does. I don't think anyone in the Caribbean is lazy because although, we have different backgrounds, the difference is not that great. I think we are all more or less the same, with regards to experience and attitudes towards life.

When Jamaica was hit by the hurricane last year, the people of TRINIDAD were thinking about you!
When we saw the devastation that was left by the hurricane, our Prime Minister sent $3million U.S to help JAMAICA get back on it's feet. Our Prime Minister was THINKING ABOUT YOU.
MORE POWER TO YOU.

And to those that gave the thumbs down, I KNOW IT HURTS WHEN YOU HEAR THE TRUTH. And about the boastful thing about Jamaicans, WHAT exactly can you boast about ?? As decendants of slaves in the Caribbean, some of us act as though they are BIGGER than others. The thing about it is that even though Trinidad has OIL MONEY,we don't flaunt that in the faces of our smaller Caribbean island, in fact in the face of disasters, we feel the pain for all that are affected and we rally together to give whatever help we can, to whoever it is, BIG OR SMALL. Nobody can break the spirit of a TRINBAGONIAN.
