Aruba is probably the most popular for Americans, as it is the easiest to get to from the US and there are a lot of package deals offered for that destination. Curacao less so, and Bonaire even less so. I don't think those two islands are that well-known to Americans and we can't get there directly from the US. |

The Netherlands Antilles get a very high number of american tourists every year. Although the majority of travlers to Curacao and Bonaire is still from Europe and South America, The US is quickly becoming a prime market for hotels and tour operators to find more and more tourists.
Contrary too what has been said above, although these 2 islands are not very well known to most american travelers, there are ways of getting to them directly. American eagle has connecting flights to Bonair out of Puerto Rico, while Curacao gets direct flights from American Airlines out of Miami, and Continental airlines out of Newark, and there are ocational Delta flights as well.
The local airline Insel Air is planning on starting to operate Curacao Miami flights as well. |

Absolutely. When we went to Aruba, most of the tourists we overheard were American. |

As a person that lives on one of the islands of the Netherlands Antilles, to be more precise on Curaçao, i must say that we get a lot of American travelers, but the majority is from Europe and the Latin Americas... since the incident with the American girl on Aruba, the amount of tourist (Americans) that usually goes to Aruba, comes 2 us or somewhere else in the Caribbean. what i must add is that Aruba is a great tourist destination and that i go every year. Americans tend to love St. Maarten (hopefully i wrote it right, but that's how we write it in dutch), and Saba and St. Eustatius are known, but not so well... And for the record, Aruba is no longer part of the Netherlands Antilles since 1986. At the moment, we r only 5 islands. |
