Yes, some do but most don't. Dominicans kind of look down to Haitians unless they're mixed with Dominican, look it and it depends how much they identify with their Dominican side. As for the real 100% Haitians, it depends on the Haitian person's behavior (because there are some cultural differences) and how they carry themselves. |

There is a lot of animosity between the two peoples. Haiti once ruled the Dominican Republic and they weren't nice. We celebrate independence from Haiti every year.

Yes, some Dominicans go out with Haitians. As with all communities, given a chance to get to know each other, chances are human nature will run its course. This is also very related to the social strata of the individuals in question and the relational opportunities: at some levels, there are not many Dominicans and Haitians interacting, so there's little to no mixing. This also implies that the closer you get to the border, the more mixing there is. |
