Do you know the official name of the country of Puerto Rico ?

the official name is in Spanish,
The Constitution of the country was established July 1952 and the United Nations recognized Puerto Rico as a self governing country in 1953 (UN resolution 748 VIII). Since then, PR has a free association with the US as a commonwealth.
Can you tell us the offcial name of PR?

The Tainos (native people before Spain intrusion) call it Boriquen, It was name San Juan Bautista by Spain and change to Puerto Rico.

The official name is:
Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico
(Commonwealth of Puerto Rico)

Puerto Rico's constitution was not created as a copy of the US constitution like someone said here. The PR constitution is far more democratic and it's inspired by the United Nations carta magna. For instance, the PR constitution is one of the few in latin america and in the world that prohibits the death sentence. In the constitution it is clearly stated that the nation of Puerto Rico and the nation of the US have a compact of association.
The official name is Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is the island's name which means Rich Port due to a lot of exportations on fruits, coffee and sugar. Now, the Taino indians called the island Borinquen which we say today but it originally was Borikquen. The Spanish came and named the island San Juan or Saint John which was the Saint that Spain believed in. Later the name was changed to Puerto Rico. The official hymn for Puerto Rico is called "La Borinquena (an~ over the n). It was originally a song written by Mariana Bracetti with the independence people to fight for the independence of Puerto Rico. The tune to the hymn is from a Balz or walts type. But later the words of the song changed from those of an uprising to words of describing the discovery of the island and how Columbus saw it when he arrived. When Juan Ponce De Leon arrived he made a settlement in Caparra which is a short drive from where I live. There are the ruins of his home and there is a museum that holds his belongings. He moved from Caparra settlement due to mosquitos and men getting sick. The move was to Old San Juan. Just a block and a half from El Morro Fort. This he named the White house. It is beautiful and has a lot of ground to walk around and see. This was the place of where the history channel filmed The real pirates of the Caribbean. It is restored and the fee to visit is $2. So from Borikquen, to San Juan to Puerto Rico.

Dear friend,
our official name is Estado Libre Asociado De Puerto Rico, in english (and for the US this is our official name)is the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. As you said, we establish our Constitution in July 25,1952 with the authorization of the US government. Our constitution is a copy of the constitution of the US, only have some part directly related with the puertorrican people. But in your information you said we have a free association with the US and this not truth. Let me explain to you, the UN declare that in the year you said but that's only a recommendation they extended to the US government. We are a territory of the US, our government follow the same laws and rules that follow any other state, our government can't make any financial or political arrangements with other nations, the only thing we do is self government in local issues (like any other state) and by the supervision of the US central government. We don't have any association with the US we are possession of the US, free association have the US Virgin Islands (they only share the currency and the army in case of political problems and the official language). We have the same benefits of the other state, we have US citizenship (Jones Act 1912), all our man when have 18 year is listed in the selected service (by law and is automatic), we receive US funds, our currency is the dollar and much more thing that I know you don't know.
