No we shouldn't give it back. We send checks to rent it (not our fault if the Cuban government doesn't cash them) and so we have a right to use it for all our needs. I'd rather keep dangerous terrorists isolated in a Cuban jail than free to kill innocent civilians or our soldiers. |

No, the U.S. should not give Guantanamo Bay back to Cuba. There are many prisoners in that prison in Guantanamo Bay and they are way to dangerous to be here in the United States. There are terrorists, murderers, and many other people that could get out easy in one of the prisons here. That is a military based prison and it is highly guarded. Plus the prison is surrounded by water so no one can actually get out. Also if we weren't in Guantanamo Bay then how would we know what the Cubans are doing. Cause you never know what will happen when the Castro's' are in power and i bet they will never come out of power for a very long time either. Those are my reasons for the United States staying in Guantanamo Bay. |

Its part of their territory, before it was stolen by the yanks.

It will only serve as a good will gesture to give it back, to those who have legitimte claims on their own soil.

Guantanamo Bay was leased to the US for a limited time by a previous Cuban government to be used as a refuelling depot.
The US has broken the ageement by overstaying and by using the area as a prison and torture centre, which is unacceptable. The area is used for this purpose by the US to avoid prosecution for torture and the non adherence to the Geneva Convention current in the US
When you break a contract you are in the wrong. Time to pack up and move out. |

Guantanamo Bay was taken a a "spoil of war" during the Spanish American war it has been basically held as a hostage of the Americans and they are still seen as invaders there.
I think for the minimal strategic foothold it gives you (I mean come on Cuba versus America who is gonna win that one) and for the really bad example of American excess and violence torture it represents. I think a great gesture would be either give it back or conversely start paying a lease to the Cuban Government which the United States does everywhere else in the world where it has bases on foreign soil. |
