I think the market has softened slightly, but I don't think it will go down much. I actually think that long term it will continue to rise.
Unlike some of the other countries eg US. Trinidad has a very limited land area. Limited land area, in what is considered the 'better' areas to live. I also read recently that building costs are still going up. So I think that in the long term property prices will increase, despite the softening of the market now.
Certainly if you were looking for a family home, and were lucky enough, to be in a position to buy, I would still go ahead and do so.
Not good news for struggling first time buyers though. :-(
I would be interested to hear other opinions.

given the way things go in T&T people going to hold on to the houses until they get the price. IF the price does drop it will not be by a large %.
Another thing to note is the Housing Min. stated that the Govt.'s housing drive will be on hold for a while, thus adding to the shortage of homes.
So those who cannot sell their home will rent it ...earn some money and hold out until. Those who can't buy will have to rent.
On a brighter side construction may be a little cheaper now, with steel prices going down. Maybe we see cement next ?
Curious!
Yes the prices will go down - (sorry for all those people who bought multi-million dollar homes)
I'm not complaining, now I may be able to afford a house!
¡Keisha!
I and my parents hope so, they will be going to Trinidad next summer to look for their retirement home.

I rather doubt it. Housing costs have been rising in both Trinidad and Tobago for the past few years and, as more baby boomers take early retirement.. the price can only go up.

Yes, I do believe prices will go down. Much more than people think as the world is heading into a deep depression like we've never seen before.
