Does American Airlines fly over cuba? |
I notice that AA flight times to Jamaica form Miami are the same as Air Jamaica's flight times. Is it that they both fly over Cuba now?
If so, when did AA resume flying over cuba? I presume they had stopped doing so at some point. |

Cuba is now giving permission to all the air lines to fly directly over, but it's on a daily basis. No guarantees. Just flew over about 2 weeks ago. Very nice beaches! |

I say no. They have restricted air space. The airlines have to fly a different route in order to avoid the area. They can't fly over a communist country...it's very unsafe for the passengers. That country could also mistake the plane for a spy one or even take it as an act of aggression and try to attack the plane. |

I never flew American Airlines, as I don't like spending half my day traveling, but been flying Air Jamaica for over 6 years, 4 times a year & we fly over Cuba EVERY flight...coming & going.
Now how the Cuban government KNOWS its an Air Jamaica flight at 35,000-40,000 feet & going 450 miles an hour, who knows... |

No. No American airline - not just AMERICAN AIRLINES - but any American airline - has clearence to fly in Cuban airspace. Fidel would think we had spy cameras in the planes! |

NO, they do not....due to the embargo against cuba they are unable to. Remember flight times vary depending on cruising altitude and speed |
