Yes. nowadays you go to Jamaica and you think you are still in America. Things we use to do and enjoy as kids in the 80s these kids don't. I remember when we use to make our own truck, cars , dolls and own pictures in a juice box and watch it, nowadays most kids have X-box just about any video games. You go to a party there its the same American music, the videos are American videos, the clothes they are wearing have to be named brand nobody want to use the local dressmakers anymore. Nobody wants to plant anything anymore, everyday a rice, lol. I didnt have much as these kids do, but I sure had fun |

no i don't think so. Jamaicans take American influences and make them their own whether it be music, fashion, style etc they definitely put their own spin on things. |

Absolutely! Jamaicans especially the younger generation are about to lose their identity with the influx of American culture through the media (satelite), the ability to travel, the discos.
These young citizens were never taught how to maintain their culture as they have been reared not to align with nationalty but political partisan.
Althouhg there are parts of the country usually the rural sections of the country they have managed to maintain the culture.
If there was a sense of self and pride with the younger generation then there would be an unliftment of their culture
structural adjustment in Jamaica, and the various ways in which the contradictory tensions embedded in the current order are being contained. Although political, economic and social realities are deeply inequitable and potentially unstable, there are serious barriers to understanding, dialogue, organisation and optimism among the poor, which have produced implosive intra-class dynamics.
It is very sad! |

If your a citizen of the U.S. you are American. Best Jamacians can do is try to melt its culture into American culture. Otherwise its best to stay in Jamacia if culture is the concern.. |

I love Jamaica to be how it is but when I travel to Jamaica you miss nothing because what they have in America they have in Jamaica. What I love with Jamaica though they try to modernize everything with new technology. |

Well, I'm American and i have alot of Jamaican friends. and to be honest with you i wish that i was Jamaican. Jamaicans are so friendly and positive. i find myself only dating Jamaican men because their much more focused than black American men. i look down on any person who forgets where they come from, especially if your Jamaican. |
