Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands are AMERICA.......territories, , not states, true but with the same flag flying as New York or Florida

and the US dollar is widely accepted in St Maarten

edit to the guy below Dutch St Maarten and French St Martin share the same island in the West Indies they are most defiantly NOT US of A

For Puerto Rico and St. Thomas it's a given that they accept US currency as they are states of the USA.

For St. Maarten, the official currency is Naf (Netherlands Antilles Florins) which converts to 1.78 Naf = $1

However, the US dollars is almost the only currency used on the island. Stores, services, practically everywhere. The only people that use the Naf is the civil servants that are being paid this currency for their salary, all the rest receives their salary in US Dollars.

It should work in Puerto Rico considering it's a US territory.

It works in all of them. I've been to all three. St. Maarten is the only one that isn't a part of the U.S., but I still bought t-shirts their.

You can use US currency any where in the world including those three places. In actual fact the currency for Puerto Rico is US currency since they are a commonwealth of the US.

The official currency of Dutch St. Maarten is the Netherlands Antilles guilder (ANG). In French St. Martin, it is the Euro. However, US dollars, traveler's checks and major credit cards are widely accepted throughout the island.
