No passport for US VI, but if you go to the British Virgins, you'll likely need one. And, why miss out on those islands as long as you're there? They're all so beautiful.

right now, no passport is needed if you are a American citizen..USVirgin islands are territories of the USA.
You will need a valid photo ID (license) and your birth certificate with the raised seal.

Just returned, no passport needed. I do suggest getting one however if you plan on doing much travel. It really makes things much easier.
