No unless you are coming from another country..Not the US...

No. Unless you are very unlucky, the most you could get is the "Monga" (puertorican for Flu).

Puerto Rico has controlled all major plagues that affect third world countries. It is a very safe place to visit. I do not consider Puerto Rico a third world country by the way.

In addittion is free of any major venomous animals. The most poisonous animal you could find is maybe a centipede, scorpion or a guabĂ¡ (red spider lives in caves). They are not common a none is lethal (maybe a fever).

You should be careful with mosquitoes. The Aedes aegypti mosquito can transmit "dengue" if you get bitten. And if you come at other time that's not summer you should watch for Jellyfish. Both non lethal but very uncomfortable.

Just be sure to use repllent at dawn if you are going into the nature and look into the water before you go in at the beach.

I've lived in PR for 34 years and never been bitten by any of these. My closest encounter could be two dead centipedes I've found in my house and maybe three jellyfish. None got to bit me.

If you're still thinking about it, come. It the safest place in the Caribbean that I know of.

Nope just get on the plane and go. They are a usa controlled island and so what you have they have in case you are wondering about getting them sick.

No you don't. Have fun if you are going. Puero Rico is a beautiful island. Enjoy it because there's only one Puerto Rico. The beautiful island has given birth to so many famouse and generous people like Roberto Clemente (R.I.P) and many other that conribute to our every day life. Puerto Rico is a mixture of so many different cultures. I love it with all my heart.

if you are traveling from the states you will not need any vaccinations, nor will you need a passport !

Lately, I extensively visited the Island, including Culebre for a total of 3 weeks.

I went in the mountains, walk in some forests, swam in 15 beaches, walked around in 20 cities and I got only one problem ... sunburns.

Very secure place to visit.
