Try FareChase, I found tickets as low as $584, and even $573 if you fly out from San Jose...

try applevacations.com - check for a travel agent in you area that handles apple. I see flights to the DR from the midwest for under $300 on occasion, but you probably would have to call someone to have them check, because they are not offered all the time. You might have to fly into Punta Cana, but even so if you can get a flight for that cheap it wouldn't be that bad to pay $ for a taxi to where you need to get to. I also found a flight for 595. on expedia.com but its a long flight. |

That is a rip off, try several airlines, and it will help if you have flexible days to travel,
Expedia.com has some starting in the mids 500 for the end of this month.

it really does depend how far in advance you purchase your tickets, good tip, orbitz around the 22nd of august till 29th has some as cheap as 564 taxes included. Good luck!
