Does anyone know what year Aruba became a country?

Additional Details
I"m sorry that the question seemed silly however i was unsure if it was 1466,or in the 1950's or 1986. It seem others are having the same problem.

Aruba became a country in 1986, after fighting for independence from the Netherlands (they're still considered to be under the crown, though).

If you were not so lazy or stupid, you would go to GOOGLE and enter "Aruba"... JUST LIKE I HAD TO DO and in about 10 SECONDS you would get ONE HUNDRED SEVEN MILLION hits... (107,000,000) and that will tell you all you want to know... and the next time, ,maybe you will not be so f#@king LAZY and STUPID that you will expect US to LOOK IT UP IN GOOGLE FOR YOU.

Aruba_dude297
it was discovered in 1499 by alonso de ojeda, and since then it was a country. I remember my school stuff. (

Aruba actually never became a country.
Aruba seceded from the Netherlands Antilles in 1986 and became a separate, autonomous member of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Movement toward full independence was halted at Aruba's request in 1990.
Member country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands; full autonomy in internal affairs obtained in 1986 upon separation from the Netherlands Antilles; Dutch Government responsible for defense and foreign affairs
. I found the aforementioned text in a another post.

1986 and there was no fighting involved. Aruba is a peaceful nation and so is the Netherlands. It was a political arrangement. This year Aruba will become financially independent from the Netherlands.
