I liked it, but yes, the salespeople in the shops are very aggressive, and the people on the streets trying to sell you illegal drugs are very aggressive as well. It's a beautiful place, though. |

It's no big deal. Say no like you mean it and just keep moving along. If someone calls you over, ignore them. If they persist tell them you are not interested. For the most part, give one polite reply of 'no thanks', and if needed, a harsher sounding "I said I'm not interested". It can only become a hassle if you let it. It's just a part of walking anywhere in Jamaica. Get past it and get over it. If you can't, hire a man to do the job for you and keep hawkers at bay. That's what I do. |

NO NO NO.....went there on honeymoon and were harassed as soon as we left hotel grounds. Had dope planted in my wifes watched and protected purse on way from airport to hotel by the slipperyest character I ever met.
My sister and husband went to fancy hotel for years and loved it...I later found out that they had an armed guard with machine gun and German shephard dog everywhere they went on hotel golf course and beach. They never left their hotel grounds to walk the city!
Beware of street "guides" and their restaurant recos! They
take you there and join you for $6.00 beer (20 years ago) you must get nasty to get rid of them!
We never even got to use the beach! NO NO NO |

if you are going there to relax, then there should be no problem as most of the good resorts keep people off there property. and if you do a good all-inclusive there so much to do you don't have to leave any way. so there should be no problem. if you pick some where like sandals you have exchange rights at other sandals resorts so you should never be board or sick of the same food as there are many resorts in jamaicia and that way you don't have to worry about being harassed |
