You see him do a very heroic pose and lunge at the mouth of the Kraken. Whether or not he actually dies? We don't see that. |

It does appear so at the end, but I believe he didn't die. After all, they have already shot Pirates of the caribbean 3. |

in an interview a little while ago, johnny depp accidentally let slip some information about a scene he had been rehearsing for potc3. im really sorry, i cant remember any of the details, but he is definitely in the third film. |

Yes and no. I think he did die, but the crew is going to go get his (soul? or ghost?) back from some other side of the grave world, in the third movie. So he's dead but not for long. Like Capt. Barbossa. He was dead and now he's alive. |
