No. Big bad old fidel needs to money to support its regime, the way it has been doing it since the soviet union went to the garbage of History
Now, the money it needs to stay there comes from tourists and ( sadly ) from the money we send to our families in Cuba.
You see, for us Cubans family is more important than the dictator |

my stepmom is from the country cuba and recently moved to the united states when she married my dad. i asked her and she said that in order to be covered under the free healthcare in cuba, you have to have a residence there. |

no. healthcare is not covered for tourists. I've been a few times and the first time i went, I broke 4 toes and it cost me a lot of money to sort it out. One injection was £48. However, keep all your receipts and you should be able to claim on your travel insurance when you get home. |

No, you have to pay for any medication/health care yourself when you holiday in Cuba, its excellent though if you do need it, just keep your receipts and claim the money back from your insurance company. |

No you are not covered you will need to take out insurance i have just got back after spending one month in Cuba i had to go into hospital while i was there and it cost me a fortune i had injections and scans as the problem was in my abdomen, most or all resorts have a doctor on hand but you would have to pay for the service again i did as i needed on going treatment. |

No, Cuba does not cover tourists' healthcare for free...as the same when travelling to other countries. Treatment may be expensive, and payment in advance may be required for a non-Cuban resident.
The Cira GarcÃa Hospital (Calle 20, No. 4191, corner of Av. 41 and Playa; tel.: 204-2668 or 204-2489) offers health services reserved for foreigners. International Servimed clinics provide emergency medical care and are located in most major tourist areas around the island.
In most hospitals, guarantee of payment (or payment in cash) must be provided in advance. Check with your insurance company for payment/reimbursement procedures. You may have to complete all transactions regarding your hospital bill before you leave the country.
That is why it is important to purchase health insurance for travelling...then your insurance company will be able to reimburse your healthcare costs/expenses incurred in Cuba (and elsewhere). Which means you must keep your receipts and records. |

As far as I know, I don't think any countries with nationalised health care system have that for tourists. I don't think the UK or Canada do. I know Barbados doesn't. Ofcourse in each of these nations if it is life threatening they would probably help you. Like when Tony Blair's son had to be rushed to the hospital in Barbados I think the government owned hospital helped them because he had issues with his appendix. But pretty much all other tourists I think have to pay for their health visits and or coverage.. |

Last year I was told by the destination rep for Transat holidays that there is a reciprocal arrangement between Canada and Cuba so that Canadians are are covered while in Cuba. I'm going on his information so when I visit in December I'm not going to buy supplementary insurance. Possibly it may be a good idea to check with your government health insurance wherever you live. |
