I am flattered that you chose Cuba. I am glad, but you know, there is a lot in misinformation about the country.
Many people that visit it see only the appearances, not the reality below.
Cuba is a country with a comunist regime, which we have not been able to eliminate. All those who tried are either dead, in jail, or in exile
More than 1 million people have escaped from Cuba since fidel seized power, and the rest of the population they just cannot escape.
As you might know, the USA coast guard returns by force any Cuban found at sea. Besides, the Cuban Security keeps a tight vigilance for those who try to escape
In 1980, when the perestroika and glasnost in the soviet union destroyed comunism, fidel was very afraid that it may happened in Cuba as well. Therefore, there were some people who were criticizing him, among them a general, Arnaldo Ochoa, and members of the State Security.
As soon as fidel knew, he had them arrested and shot, under accusation of dealing in drugs, but everybody in Cuba knew it was just a warning: "DO NOT DARE !"
Right, Beardo, and you take charge of the comunist propaganda, to counterbalance it.
Batista was a inocent baby compared to what fidel has done in Cuba.
If you really live in Cuba, only agents of the government have access to the Internet in Cuba. Therefore, we know what you are |

Cuba is an island in the Caribbean, at just 90 miles south of the USA. Its strategic position is a great benefit for tourism, and commerce.
Cuba has good soil to grow sugar cane, potatoes, bananas, tomatoes, tobacco, and other vegetables. We have minerals like copper, iron, and nickel . Since we are an island we fish, obtaining sponges, fish, crabs, lobster, and other species.
We have no dangerous animals and the weather is benign.
Our language is Spanish ( you should read more ), and our religion is Catholic.
The island was discovered in 1492 by Christopher Columbus, becoming a Hispanic colony until 1902, when we declared our independence.
We were a democratic country until in 1959, fidel castro seized power, creating a dictatorship that still lasts |

Our foods are black beans with white rice, pork, yucca, sweet potatoes , bread
We speak ( you don't know ? ) Spanish
We love baseball and boxing. Our country has given great boxers and other athletes.
Our religion is Catholic
We were colonized by Spain in the XV century, when Columbus discovered the island. In the XIX we began to fight for our freedom and independence, like many other countries.
It was in 1902 when finally we obtained our independence. We had a series of governments, some democratically elected, others not, until in 1959 fidel castro seized power and began the most cruel dictatorship in our history.
Sadly, it is still there. Those that tried to fight it, have been shot, are in jail, or have been deported to the USA
Now, our only hope is wait until the tyrant joins his ancestors to see whether finally we recover our freedom
Beardo, you make me so happy. I see very clearly that you, the comunists, are so afraid of the truth that you desperately try to cover it even in this unimportant website.
Man, you just cannot tolerate the truth ! |

There are NO good websites for that. The information they have is incomplete, partial , biased, and wrong
The best is to contact the Cuban community in south Florida. They can give you an accurate idea of what you wish.
In the meantime, I can give you a little information
Our traditional foods are:
rice with black beans, roasted pork, yucca, tachinos ( a way to prepare green bananas )
We speak Spanish ( really, you didn't know that ? )
Our religions are catholic and sincretism , a combination of the catholic faith and African beliefs that come from the times of the slaves
Games: baseball and boxing
We are a happy country that has learnt, as a survival mechanism, to laugh and dance despite the bad conditions.
This had made some idiots to believe that we love comunism and that we are happy under it
If we were happy, we would not be desperately trying to escape, risking our lives
Beardo, to which comunist organization do you work for ? Everyone knows very well that, if you live in Cuba, to have access to the Internet you must be of the Security , the MIN INT or the counterintelligence |

Cuba is the last comunist country in America, with an economic political system that has proven to be useless.
In the first years, fidel had the support of the soviet union, that gave him millions. But since the fall of the comunism in Russia, fidel is barely keeping the regime alive. This represents more scarcity for the population, who survives basically on the dollars that the relatives send from Miami
Communism does not produce because of many factors, one is lack of motivation. The worker has many problems that he cannot solve. This makes him, in the long run, lose interest in his work and tries to solve his personal situation in the black market
Hey, Harry K, very good website. Thank you. One of the few places that say the true reality of Cuba
Somebody said "stick to the facts and keep your presentation unbiased"
In the case of Cuba, that doesn't work . Which facts are you going to stick to ?
The very few good ones or the bad ones ?
I can tell you. Good facts: "access to health care and education"
Bad facts: it is a dictatorship where anything that is not forbidden is mandatory. Add the fact that comunism is a totalitarian dictatorship that controls EVERYTHING
Why do you think that so many Cubans risk their lives trying to escape ?
Ah, Beardo, good to know of you . How is the Coma Andante ?
Don't waste your time. fidel esta liquidado. Ve buscando como conseguir la comida de manana |

As you will have seen, Cuba tends to generate controversy. This thread seems to have been taken over by the anti-Castro propagandists, giving low ratings to those who seek to give the information that you ask for.
Look at wikipedia, and the sites mentioned by the others.
Games - dominoes is very big.
Warnings - therealcuba is infamous for having posted a photo from vietnam and claimed it was Cuba.
- in 1952, Batista, former president and candidate for president again, realised that he was not going to be elected and so staged a coup. He remained unelected president until he fled from Castro's forces in 1959. So the person who claimed that Cuba was democratic prior to 1959 is wrong. |

Everyone has given you a lot of information that is useful for your project...Riki and Havanalover have given you excellent links to do your research. But as they also said, you do need to research well.
You picked a good topic as well. So here are a couple more sites about the places throughout Cuba. You've got information already about games, religions, the country's history, language and foods (all stated and added links)....but here's info on the provinces throughout and other information that might come in handy for your project.
Remember, the success of your projects can also depend on your form of presentation (whether oral or written). Always stick to the facts and keep your presentation unbiased.
Hope you do well on your assignment. |

Like Riki says , there are many good websites on the Cuba topic.
You have to do some research, the internet is a massive information source, check the Wikipedia and the CIA fact book on Cuba.
The most important is your motivation, you must like the topic and the country., we can't do this for you.
Good Luck
