In DR you'll always have stuff to do, take a trip to saona Island, Catalina Island, Cayo Levantado, those are full day trips to paradisiac Islands whit lunch included.
In the city there are a lot of dining places, discos, lounges, lots of stuff, go to Zona Colonial, (Colonial Zone) where you'll find dining places and discos at night, and museums during the day, shopping places, there is a street called El conde st. that is a pedestrian st. with a lot of stores. we also have mountain tourism, you can do rafting at Jarabacoa, and take safaris.
good luck with your trip |

Me and my fiancé went to Dominica Republic for 2weeks in September and had an excellent time!
1. Check on Trip Advisor, on reviews for trips for your particular hotel and area http://www.tripadvisor
2. We went for 2 weeks and spaced it out with 2 trips per week. VIP Private Island was excellent! The food, drink, coral reefs, staff, was all excellent - plus my boyfriend proposed, so it was a favourite of mine!
They have Ocean World, were you can do shark, dolphin, sea lion, or string ray encounters, or experience... your food is included with the day pass, but bring cash for drinks and photos taken if you do any of the encounters or experiences with the animals. They also have a bird and sea lion show was is excellent! http://www.oceanworld.net/
Catamaran was another trip we did, which was definitely worth the money!! The food and drink was lovely. The staffs were excellent!! We went with a company called FreeStyle. It was very lively, with water fights with the other boats, 2x 1hr stops for snorkelling, and you can also get good quality underwater photos for $10 each.
Our hotel also put on a bar/club crawl, which we thoroughly enjoyed...
They also had go-karting, quad biking in the mountains, Jeep Safari's, horse riding... and the list go on... you we definitely have plenty to do!
Tips: we had conflicting information on whether to bring Dominica Dollar, or America Dollar, so we brought 1/2 of each.... found it best to use their own currency as each shop had its own exchange rate, and we ended up losing money transferring it from US to Dominican Dollars..
Have a good holiday - hope youâre going All-Inclusive, its definitely worth it!!! |

if you're into the water sports, I would definitely recommend trying a resort scuba lesson and dive. You usually spend about an hour or so with instruction and go on a short dive with the instructor. Diving in DR is supposed to be amazing....so if you are hesitant about doing the scuba, I'd recommend trying snorkeling at the least. Happy travels!! |

I think it has the loveliest beaches I've seen. We were at Puerta Plata. But sorry to say only went on one excursion to drive speed boats and snorkel and although a great day, went through some really dodgy looking areas. Through sugar cane fields, down tracks, didn't know where we were. Felt a bit nervous at times. Very poor areas. Didn't go out again. Do try to go out in numbers. Safest bet. Felt quite safe on the complex though. But love the Caribbean. |

What is "the Dominican"
Do you mean the Dominican Republic?
Dominican Dollars???? Purto Plato??
They are called Dominican Pesos, the city is Puerto Plata! Are you people morons?
All-inclusives are the worst kind of place to stay because you don't get to sees anything of the country - you could just as well be in Mexico. Morons go to places like that.
It must be nice to be able to go through life in such ignorance. |

Went to Purto Plato, had a great time, horse riding was brilliant, you dont stop laughing all the way round, Swam with the dolphins, great day out, boat trips are good fun too, People can't do enough for you, hotels beautiful, clean, night life is good although dont be expecting anything like spain, shows, disco's
in the hotels every night, food, drink great, you are recommended not to go out side the resort by yourself and you will understand why on your way from the airport, people are very poor there. but once you arrive at your hotel you wont need to go anywhere else. I am going back again this year so it cant be that bad. you will love it. |
