Dominican Republic- How long does it take to fly there from the UK?

Ok.. As ive mentioned in my last question im off to the Dominican Rep on May 30th & Can't wait!
But the only problem is I don't really like flying and was wondering how the flight was from the UK and how long it took? I would be setting off from Manchester. Also would teh weather be nice at that time of year? what about hurricanes etc??

Hi! Flying is like traveling in a car or bus, you just have to take a good book en enjoy the ride! After several flight you will have a better opinion about flying. For my experience your flight will be around 10 hours (depending on the winds above the Atlantic Ocean) The weather must be normally excellent in that time of year. Enjoy your holiday!

9 Hrs flightr depending on the weather.

No you do not have to worry about Hurricanes, season does not start until june-november.

You will have a great time just think about that lovely white fine sand and blue sea on the plane.

This link will give you the temps for may 2006. Will give you an idea for this year. (bottom of page)

The flight takes 9 hrs this may sound like a long time. But once you watch a few movies and have your dinner your basically there. Take loads of cream because me and my wife are usually very careful when we go on holiday. As i mentioned earlier we went in January and the temp was 91. And the funny thing was all the locals were walking around in their jumpers. I got friendly with one of them and asked if he was a nutter for wearing his jumper in that heat? He simply replied that 91 is COLD! The summer which is may to august varies from 110 to 146 have fun!

Just come back , flew from Manchester - it takes 8 hours there , just over 7 hours back , been 3 times , around April -May , first year was great, the other two times we had occasional rains , but if even it rains , it is still very warm , and it dries immediately after . No idea about hurricanes.
Good place , promised heat , lovely people.

Oh lucky you. I got married out there in october 1997. Its was fantastic. I cant advise you about the weather this time of year, but the flights were definately 9 1/2 hours going and just under 9 hours coming back. You will have a great time there. Do as many day trips as you can coz there are some beautiful sights to see. God I`m jealous!!!!

About 9 1/2 hours.

It looks as though it will take at least 12 hours. Most airlines seem to include a stop over somewhere in North America.

If it's a direct flight, it should be around 7 hours. The weather is great this time of the year!

Weather should be pretty good, maybe a little steamy, but goo all in all. As far as flight time goes. Total in air time will probably be around 7 hours (that is adding the two flights together as there are no non-stop flights.) I left out the lay over times and just gave you the actual travel times added together. First leg was about 3 hours and the second leg was about 4 hours. This of course would be effected by winds and weather, but that is a good estimate.
