Dominican Republic Would You Go There after this? |
A tourist couple went to a resort called the Sunscape The Beach in Punta Cana. When in there room, they here people outside there room arguing, suddenly they start banging on the door and accuse the couple of stealing a cell phone. Well to make a long story short, the police were called and they were thrown in jail and the police said just give us your money or you will stay in jail forever and you will never see your wife again. After giving them 1000.00 cash they were allowed to go back to the hotel. This couple were innocent and law bidding, one was a bank manager and the other was a teacher. This was supposed to be their dream vacation, would you subject yourself and your family to that type of abuse? |

I've never experienced this, and I've been there numerous times, visiting family and visiting typical tourist attractions. What they should have done was call the US Embassy (I assume they're US citizens). Sadly, this doesn't only just happen in DR, it happens around the world, you just have to know how to deal in these situations. The only advice I can offer to anyone traveling to any country, is that they contact their nearest embassy if they run into any trouble. |

in the area of Boca Chica/Boulevard or in Puerto Plata. You see
the "golden Jails" of Punta Cana are not that good after all...

i stayed at that very same resort. that's a really unfortunate situation, and after hearing it i would probably be have been rather worried. but i have been there, and the people were quite kind, easygoing, and i would go back in a second. my family and i didnt experience anything even close to that. |

Dominican Republic, Cess pool of the world. Corrupt Government, rude people,bad water, very little electricity and poverty beyond belief.I said it before and I'll say it again. I never met an honest Dominican. |
