The GOOD:
1. Summer like weather all year long
2. People (most) are genuinely friendly
3. Short flight to several major cities on the east coast (ATL, NYC, Miami): 3 hrs on a non-stop flight for instance.
4. The cost of entertainment (movies, dining out) costs less
5. The beaches are beautiful, clear, and clean

The Bad:
1. Unexpected electrical outages
2. Cost of basic food items cost more
3. Cost of electricity and gas cost a lot more. For instance, try $5.29 USD per gallon for regular gasoline at the pump
4. Receiving mail from the US can sometimes be a hassle due to customs and handling
5. Interest rates and government tax are high. Try 16% for the gov't tax

If allowed, I can think of 2-4 more good things about the D.R. and at the end of the day, the good outweighs the bad overall.

The weather is great
The tipical food is good
Lots of beach
Lots of mountains
Beautiful women

BAD

The people are all looking to make a cottage industry out of YOU. They will eat your lunch if you are NOT on Guard 100% of the time.

They treat this country like crap. Bags of garbage go flying out of car windows and the Dominicans go to the beach on Sunday and never take any garbage with them. Place is a pig sty.

They drive like animals here and are very UNcivilized.

If you get hit in the rear by a Dominican it will cost you money even if they are uninsured and unlicensed. They have no shame.

What use to be an inexpensive country to live in is now very pricey. Six pack of DOMESTIC beer costs 7 US dollars.
