Dominicanos vs. dominca [country] not dominican republic?/?

And my friends that are Dominican [dominican repulic] call themselves, ofcourse, dominican but i heard thats what people from dominca call themselves. Now how can people from the dominican republic call themselves what people from dominica call themselves without being the same thing [thats what someone told me]. anymore from dominica & dominican republic on here??

I am from the island of Dominica. We do not speak Spanish and the people there are definately not Latino.Christopher Columbus is the one who named the island Dominica which means Sunday in Latin because he had discovered the island on a Sunday.

Hi, Cee

I personally know some people of Dominica the Island. the culture is different from the Dominican Republic.

Dominica: name like that because it was discover it a Sunday.
Language: English (french creole)

Dominican Republic: name after the dominicus that was living in the eastern part of the island Hispaniola.
Language: Spanish

You can distinguish a Dominican (from the island of Dominica, and a Dominican from the Dominican Republic ) when they speak English one has a french accent and the other Spanish accent.

Dominican from Dominica has bigger body shape. (the one that i know.) (Carib, African, french mix)
Dominican from Dominican republic more mixed (mulatto) black and white mix, (Europeans, Spanish, African)

Both places the nationality are Dominicans.
I live in the Dominican Republic.
I am from the Dominican Republic
I have a friend from Dominica the island.
She lives also in the Dominican Republic.

Well I am from the Dominican Republic and I did not know that people in Dominica call themselves Dominican, I thought that we were the only ones who call ourselves that. I mean if you ask anyone here (New York City) where are Dominicans from, they will tell you that they are from the Dominican Republic... and well I don't think that they speak spanish... of course we do speak spanish!

Richard K
People from Dominica speak English and Creole there is no relationship between the two countries.

coocoo
i am dominican..(from the island of Dominica) ..we do not speak spanish....we speak english....we also speak creole which is something like french...
