Existence of God?

Serious answers only please.. How do you prove God's existence in this day & age? I mean look at everything that's going on around us..where is God in all this? On a vacation? I"m not tryin to be funny or anything, I'm just wondering , how do you trust in a higher power when you look at everything that's happening around you? Why does he allow bad things to happen to good people? For example: Those kids in NJ who lost their lives..where was God in all this? Why would he allow something like that to happen? I was born & raised a Catholic, but I'm seriously starting to question / wonder / doubt his existence & I shouldn't..I can't help it though, especially with everything that's happening around us. How do you call on someone that you can't see? Isn't seeing supposed to be believing? Well how do you believe in something that's not in front of your eyes? I lost one of my best friends in a senseless car accident a few weeks ago & to this day, I still wonder.. where were you God?
Additional Details
It seems like the ones who are trying to live a good life are always the ones who end up dying.. why? Please don't tell me any crap about free will because I don't believe in it anymore..If he's so all knowing & all loving, then why allow such things to happen to innocent people?

Hi Frigg,
You have asked a question that many, many people ask daily. Where is God and why does He allow suffering?

1) He is all knowing. He sees what we cannot see and He knows what we cannot know. He may seem cruel when things happen and we don't understand, but the Bible says His mercies endure forever.
2) He is all powerful. Let's face it, no one gets out of this life alive....no one. The manner in which one dies is always painful, whether it be a young person or an older person. God is there to comfort you when someone dies and one day He will do away with death, but it will not be this side of eternity.
3) He is merciful. Frigg, think of who woke you up this morning. Think who keeps you day to day. It is God. He keeps you in your right mind....well sort of in your case gyul...lol.... and He loves you. The suffering in this world is not a result of the lack of God's love, but as a result of the sinful nature of man, plain and simple. God is there IN SPITE of it! He wants you to trust Him and He will change your life.

God's existence can be seen in every sunrise, in the good times we share as a posse, in the beauty of the islands we love and call home. Let me tell you something that was deep for me and affirmed the fact that He is everywhere.

I was in a fete, yes, a fete. Insomonia at Mob's 2 to be exact. I was there with my sister at dawn and Machel was rocking de crowd. He instructed us to turn to the sunrise and just watch. I was awestruck at the site of the sun rising over Small Boats and I could do nothing but burst into praise at the majestry of my God. So, long after everyone else gone back to whining dong de place, my sister and I stand straight up like two fools, mouths hanging open, still staring at the sky like if Jesus Himself was coming.
The Bible says God is a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him. Taste and see that God is good Frigg.
Enough sermon for today. Now ah want a Big Red.

I believe that there are alot of things on this earth we will never really know. and all we really have at the end of the day is faith. When it comes to the existence of God, in today's world.... I know that he is here, and many of the bad things that happen to good people, no one on earth could truely know why it happens & why He allows it happen. My belief, is that God is always with us, but we all have to suffer before we die, even if its for one second. Just like he died for each of us. My Grandmom was the most perfect/loving person in my eyes, she would never say no to anyone who was in need. If she didn't have what you asked for at that time, she would try to get it for you somehow, but she never said no. Always smiling & showing kindness to people others wouldn't. A true womwn of God. But she died of Diabetes & i had to watch her suffer & slowly whither away form me until she was no more. So I say that He takes back, the really good ones, because we are not worthy of having them. He sends them off to a place of peace & happiness........ Which was intended for us all.

No matter how you look at it, life is but a breath...whether it is 30yrs or 90yrs. Even if we are taken as children. Why do the innocent suffer? Why is an unborn killed? Why are little children molested and killed?
It seems simple but I wonder if it is entirely true. That his world is a testing ground that is under a spiritual war that we cannot see but feel. What if it really is? Then that means that something is really working at making you question and turn away from God... for the sake of the evil that has happened. So then it takes real faith and spiritual insight to be at peace with whatever the world shoves at us. There is something much greater than our mortal lives at stake here.... our souls.

Hello ...this is a serious response to your question as I see it -because I know and have a friendship with God...He is not Superman...He is not a man He is an omnipresent being of no sex...(He) created the universe with law's...like gravity and all that science stuff in quantum physics and such ...or photosynthesis or atoms in a cell ...even a butterfly...(He) created all this...and then (He) created Man and Women...and gave it all to us...we then gave it away to Satan,(a fallen created being or angle)..He held the keys to this planet till Jesus Christ paid the price for man's carelessness...But Satan is the dictator and we (man) are the rebels trying to reclaim our planet- We (man) has been given gifts and powers (weapons) to fight this war ..but we have to receive them and fight together with God for this planet...these things are like this because of Man's mistakes but one day...Jesus Christ will come back and Kick Satans but* and take back the planet ....This is all in the Bible ...I am a fighter for the planet and that is why Bad things happen...we are at war I am sorry for your friends ( He knows every hair on their heads)...and I would encourage you to ask for your weapons and fight with us... ... signed Warrier Women

i think that jouvert and the rest has given really good answers.

in all of this remember Job...no matter what is happening around you, as long as you have continue to have faith in God, and to look to him for help, he will protect you, and he will reward you will much more than you had initially. Trials in life is to test your faith in God, for you to show that you are willing to let him take the lead and do what is right in your life.

Its only human to question God, cause we cant see him. but we can see what he as done for us...We are all alive, we have not lost any of our senses. we are all physically ok.

We must give thanks for both the good and the bad in life, the good shows that we are blessed, and the bad helps to build our faith and trust.

God is right there. Carrying you through your pain and bearing the same pain and a vast knowledge of even more pain.

We cannot ask thee for aught, for thou knowest our needs before they are born in us:
Thou art our need; and in giving us more of thyself thou givest us all."

Don't blame God.
We ran God out of the schools and we got school murders.
Someone has already given you the answer, but you don't want to listen.
If God did everything for us, there would be no purpose. If he punished evil in real time instead after Judgment Day, he would be controlling us, we would be puppets on a string. Our acceptance of him would be without meaning.
God is not a servant to make us feel good or prevent our mistakes or protect us from evil people.
God is mainly interested in our soul. Life, as we know it, is but a fleeting moment, while eternity is forever.
Neither you nor I can Prove the existence of God like we can prove the laws of physics. We do have evidence, circumstantial and anecdotal, but never the less, evidence. God influences people's hearts and minds. He relieves anxiety, he helps people to accept the unacceptable.
