VIVA CUBA LIBRE!
My grandmother died waiting for this day to come, along with countless others. I think that it will be good for the country to see change, and this may bring an end to the embargo. Now people will not have to have teeth extracted without anesthesia, as my cousin experienced. (and that is despite the fact that his sisters are physicians). Perhaps now people will be able to experience a decent standard of life, rather than a substandard underprivileged lifestyle. Even though the doors may open and they may have the opportunity to leave, many will not because now is when they will be able to take part in rebuilding their country and their lives. In fact, this will be a great opportunity for many to experience the positive side of capitalism!

Yes, I read on the internet this morning that Castro made it well known that he will be stepping down. He'd been in failing health for some time, so his news comes as no surprise to me at all.

Fidel's brother, Raul, will not last 6 months as president.

Cuba will once again be free and under the boot of America.

Raoul will assume the reins. Hopefully there will be some dialogue betwen the U. S. and Cuba to end the embargo.

Yes I read the article too. It will be interesting to see what happens. Many will choose to leave for a change to experience other things...many will choose to stay as well. It all depends on each person's perception. People think that all Cubans hate everything about their country, but it's not all true.
No one can really say...just sit back and see how it all unfolds.

I think the Cuban people are one step closer to experiencing freedom from Castro's oppression. Fidel will remain in power as long as he's alive, whether or not he remains president. If Raul is willing to open up the economy and allow free enterprise, Cuba has a great chance at again becoming the paradise it once was.
