I am flying to Puerto Rico this May ..I'm a permanent US resident. Will I need a passport for this or not ?
Some people are telling me it's necessary and others say no because it's US territory..?

Thanks !

No It's a us territory.. I was there last year. Really loved it.

As a U.S. permanent resident, you absolutely do NOT need a passport to travel to Puerto Rico. Travelling to Puerto Rico is just like travelling to alaska or Hawaii...like travelling to another state. U.s. citizens and U.s. permanent residents do not need a passport to go to Puerto Rico, it is PART of the U.S. If you still have any doubts...call your airline and ask...they will tell you that you do not need a passport. However, as a permanent resident in the U.S. , you are responsible to have a current passport from your home country at all times. If you do not have one, you need to contact the nearest embassy of your home country and apply for a new passport.

no, i think ur fine.

I agree with all the other responses, no. However, if you have a passport, it does not hurt to bring it with you...in case of an emergency. If you don't already have a passport, probably not a problem. If you ever plan on travelling abroad in the future to countries outside the US, you may as well start the application process for a passport, anyway.
¡Espero que usted tenga un tiempo divertido en Puerto Rico, mi amiga!

the best is to inquire at your travel agency.. they have a better knowledge of knowing if you still need one or not...

No you don't need a passport because it's US territory but to tell you the truth, I travel a lot to PR even though you don't have to go through immigration while walking towards the plane terminal I was ask by immigration authorities to show them my passport.

Depends if your flight has a stopover scheduled in a non U.S. territory. Basically, though, just carry and show your ID if there is any problem! Check with Homeland Security Dept.
if you have any questions
