For Christmas have you ever left work on Christmas eve and gone shopping with crowd 10 deep? |
After you get what you want around 6:30 pm yuh jump in ah car and yuh vex like hell cause driver only playing Christmas Reggea.
Yuh feet hurting.
Yuh studding about all the cooking yuh have to do.
One ah the straps on yuh shopping bag bus and yuh deciding how the hell yuh getting out this car.
Yuh vow never you again and this Christmas t'ing.
Then the next year ketch yuh doing the same t'ing. |

Oh gosh boy - yuh ain't know de stress ah in! Ah have to select ah Shopping Day between 1st and 19th Dec. and ah cyar decide! I did some of my shopping already, but I still have a couple of gifts to buy!
Oh the christmas music is plentiful - all those classical christmas music as well as the parang is playing on most stations!
Christmas Eve nightmare is a must for most Trinis - how else will they spend that bonus cheque? Get those last minute decorations and trimmings? Those gifts for the person(s) you didn't buy for? The clove for de ham? the sorrel is cheaper as well! Many people just hate to admit that they love to be in that Christmas Eve melee! Yuh getting bounced around, mashed, no empty chair to sit and eat in the fast food restuarant, yuh reach on the taxi stand and yuh forget yuh ain't buy something! |

I always finish my christmas shopping before thanksgiving day. I buy stuff for the following christmas starting the day after christmas and throughout the year.
I like doing it this way i don't have to fight the crowds in the stores. |

hehe,,,,yeah boy...yuh know the thing well!! I remember shopping till midnight one christmas eve...and when hungriness take meh tail...ah was going to eat anything so...ah end up buying some sketchy corn soup at 3 in the morn..when ah reach home bout 5 christmas morning, meh mudder in the kitchen baking she bread and roasting she beef. Meh belly bawl...and meh heart feel full of happiness!! lol
But my christmas eve tradition has now boiled down to going by friends house with meh bottle ah sctoch and meh mother in tow...and making the people cut the ham at midnight....I must be the first person to taste it! |

In Chaguanas, that's almost suicide yes. I swear is everybody does be out they house and on the street, then Christmas morning 7oclock, they now painting the steps, but thais the ting self ent!
Since we have our own business and it involves being in tong mostly, Christmas Eve is spent giving our customers their presents/goodies all into 8-9pm and then heading home to tun the house upside down! |

TS, but yuh know that is d best part of christmas shopping!!! is that, den yuh hadda stay up til 3 ind morning sewing curtains or cushion covers to put on d chairs. lol. and den finish clean d house.
Christmas dont feel like christmas unless yuh leave everything until christmas eve, Chrisrtmas morning must find yuh tired like ah dog cause yuh went in yuh bed at 5am lol |
