For a first-time Caribbean traveler, where should I go?

I have never traveled in the Caribbena and am 50-something. I don't have a lot of money to spend on this vacation and prefer an all-inclusive. Can anyone advise me?

I suggest Turks & Caicos. It is a quiet island that isn't very commercialized yet, no McDonalds etc, which is very nice. It has beautiful beaches and lots of water activities. Everyone who lives their is very friendly and helpful. There are also a lot of options for the budget traveler.

Try out Curacao. It's relatively affortable, has a good selection of all inclusive hotels, and is an intersting place to see. The Culture is very rich and unique, combined with an island different than all the othe islands in the Caribbean.
Look into it

I would have to say the Cayman Islands.

The Cayman Islands, that's my hometown.... we have really beautiful waters and all the water activities you can think about. If you are scuba diver the view is breathtaking or if you are not you can still enjoy the underwaters through snorkelling or submarine. We also have lovely land attraction such as Hell ( no kidding) and Boatswain Beach (aka Turtle Farm) it has just been renovated and has a lot of new attractions in it for all ages.

The pirate caves and Pedro castle (Cayman's first Parliament) in Bodden Town. Botanic park for all those wildlife lovers, you get to see iguanas running wild ( and no they dont bite) and all the native trees of the Cayman Islands and what about Stingray City. Not to mention 7 mile beach, it really is 7 miles of beautiful beach. We are a bit pricey but for the peace and quiet, and the friendly locals that you get in return, its worth it, trust me.

a good website to go on to find out more about our Islands is /

I hope to see you soon!!!! You won't regret that you came!!

Take a cruise out of miami or cape canaveral. The cruises are all inclusive, except for booze. You can probably get a 6 night 7 day cruise for less than a $1,000 on special. The rooms are nice, you can get just about any kind of food you want when ever you want it. With a 7 day cruise you'd get to see 4 or 5 different islands.

I suggest you go to Negril, Montego Bay or Ocho Rios in Jamaica.

I think all the answers below, except from the tour agent, are good. You don't really give enough details, such as, are you travelling alone. If so, then a cruise is definitely for you. Another aspect to consider if a cruise is not for you, is the airfare. Just go on line, pick an island, dates, etc, and check the price. Do this for several possible islands. There is a relatively cheap "all-inclusive" hotel on the beach in Guadeloupe, and I'm sure there are others elsewhere. For what it matters, my problem with travel/tour agents on this site is that they give no information...and they should, because if one is really "at sea" about what to do, they can really help. And the better ones don't charge YOU, they get their fees elsewhere.

Try Barbados.
