I'm currently in Puerto Rico and think it is a pretty good place for a vacation.

Here is a thought. Fly to Puerto Rico and do a mini cruise from Puerto Rico. You can find 4night cruises that will take you to a couple of other caribbean islands and the cost will be no more than the cost of a hotel + food per night.

Best of both worlds. get to see Puerto Rico and other islands + get to have a cruise.

If you want more information on caribbean islands check ot www.frommers.com and www.roughguide.com and search for the various islands.

there is also posts here about Puerto Rico www.visit-the-coqui.com/home

I think Puerto Rico y the best one for you you dont need passport to go there because is a US territory and you cannot miss the awesome rain forest, The world largest radio telescope, the historic city, the beautiful beaches, the bioluminisant bay.

St Maarten/St Martin is a great place to vacation. Beautiful beaches, the best food, duty free shopping and very friendly people.
You get 2 islands for the prices of one. St. Martin is the french side and St. Maarten is the Dutch side.
A easy ferry ride takes you over to Anguilla or St Barths.

good luck and Happy Birthday!!!!
