Freeport Bahamas?

We are going on a cruise in August and this is one of the port of calls...I was wondering if it was even worth getting off the boat. We've been to Nassau and HATED it. If we do get off and advice on where to go or what to do??

There are MANY to do in Freeport. You can go to the most popular tourist attraction, Port Lucaya Marketplace. This is where you can buy soviners for family and friends and buy island clothing and bags and straw bags (kids and adults) which are decocrared with beautiful designs expecly for the kids with popular characters such as Dora,Spongebob etc, go to many resturants(you can walk cuz its not far AT ALL, cuz its in one area), if you have kids you can carry them to a non-expensive arcade. There are Amercian resturant also such as Subway, Quznos Sub, and Dominos Pizza. Burger King, Kentucky, McDondonals is when you have to take a taxi there. There are also bars you can go to.

What you can do also is you can go to Dolphin Expirence where you can swim with the dolphins and...there are many marine stuff but I cant remember them. Of course you can go to the beach and you can rent jet skis and other stuff and taste the island most delicacy, conch. I dont know if you could be able to do all these stuff in one day... but I hope you have a great time there. visit this site for more info: portlucayamarketplace.com

YESSS!!!! I am so sorry you hated Nassau, but though it is apart of the Bahamas, it is different from other cities in the Bahamas. I was born and raised in Freeport (FPO) and I've visited Nassau a couple times. In my own opinion, FPO is better to visit. As far as what to do, if you haven't eaten any of the local dishes, now would be a good time to try them! That's a big part of visiting the Bahamas. And then depending on how much time you have off the cruise, you can do so much! My best friend and her hubby from Indiana JUST came off of a cruise and she wished they had more time to do all the things that were fun to do. Also, take lots of pics, visit the local markets and buy souvenirs, scuba dive, swim with the dolphins, parasail, hop on the jetski and enjoy the beautiful waters or just simply R-E-L-A-X. I hope this helps you and I do believe you'll enjoy FPO much better than Nassau. I'm currently emailing you from FPO and my goal, besides to visit family members is to simply relax and enjoy the beauty of my native land.

No visit to the Bahamas is complete without at least one encounter with underwater creatures, and dolphins are among the most loveable ocean dwellers.
