October suppose to be a rainy month. but like global weather is changing now it might rain 5 minutes, also depends if there a storm in Atlantic. what happend last year don't happend very often here.
so just check the weather forecast before coming in here.

Rui merengue Hotel
it is a very huge hotel, and the month of October is on low season (so maybe the hotel might not be so crowded)

Good luck!!

We went the first week in November and it did rain some, but in very short spurts and usually in the early mornings or late night. We would wake up and it would pour hard for 20 minutes and then the sun would come out and it would be gorgeous and sunny all day. Enjoy your trip :)

Riu's Hotels ( Maimon) near Puerto Plata.
Anyway this hotels are good and in October less tourists. The only thing you gone have some rain but never for long period.
And then sun again.
Enjoy your stay !

Riu Merengue its a good hotel Ive been there. There are more hotels together in that resort that if you get bored on Riu merengue you get the chance to go the other ones and enjoy yourself the people are very friendly and talkative. But if you go to the city if you go to the boardwalk area its really nice you could see the sea and the old ruins of the city if you want to take pictures. And also have fun dancing there is always on the board walk across the streets a place to dance. Just be careful with strangers that want to sit with you.

I can tell you that if you go into the city the drivers are crazy and the beggar kids are the equivalent of prostitutes and a guy is standing around the corner to collect the money they get.
