Starting Jan. 8th 2007 passports are required for all US citizens for Caribbean, Mexico, Canada, Bermuda, Puerto Rico (yes even here, being required from many airlines), etc. |

Actually passport are not required once you are taken a cruise by ship( it all comes down to land base tourism and the tourist who only spends hours by ship, when they dock at the islands port of entry,remember you are not renting a room at a hotel,so the treatment that one gets at a airport is not the same,as a cruise ship port).
How do i know,The Jamaica Observer had an article in it which covered the story,and made mention that for cruise ship ope raters in the Caribbean they would experience this shift at a later date,approx- 2009.
however if you are planning to go bring your passport just in case, or you can visit the web site for the news papers in Jamaica for more info on whether or not cruise in Caribbean will be affected.(The Gleaner,The observer) by entering it on yahoo tool bar. |

I really don't know about that. Where ever I travel, I always bring my passport with me. If I was you, I would get one, just to be safe. Besides, having a passport is a universal id if someone asked you for an id since it came from the government. |
