Hi Elisa,
Depends on the type of cruise.
Cruise missle: $0, you'll end up dead anyway!
Cruising in your car: $20-40, not including herb!
Tom Cruise: He owes you. Check please. Thank you Tommy..
Boat cruise: At least $5000, you never know what port you may get stuck in with food poisoning!
Inodat..once again.

Just take enough for tips and spending money. As for the rest, take your credit card.

Also a lot of hotels actually don't always offer the best possible exchange rate. So shop around when you do end up exchanging money. Ask at the terminal when you arrive to your desination for the exchange rate and also the front desk of your hotel. And the go into where ever your at and look for a local exchange center, "Casa de cambio" in mexico, and try there.

For credit cards, make sure that credit cart doesn't charge you a fee though or if they do, take the one with the lowest possible transaction fee. For instance, American Express charges 3% on most of its cards for international transactions. UAL Visa charged me $33 for a transaction of $340.

Long story short, for the cuise, just take some change for tips, bell boy waiter/es, bribe cash for to the captain/security.

It's depend of you, of course.
But, for cruise 3-7 days if not drink included you'll need to spend $50 minimum.
Cruise 7-14 days $100 minimum.
Ask is food and drink are included?

I worked for a cruise line and most cruises will pre authorize a credit card the day you get on board for $60 a day per person. Then once you leave the ship (last day of the cruise) they return what ever you do not use. All of your food is included (well except what ever is at the coffee shop for the most part). Beverages are seperate (beer, and soda).

the cruise I was on, the ship purchases (from spa treatments, alcohol, gambling, access to internet (they have a computer room) and phone calls, to fingernail clippers, aspirin, make-up, perfume, t-shirts, jewelry etc.) were not cash...they give you a credit card type id that just keeps "putting it on your tab". without realizing it, you can spend way more than you intended. this "special" id card is linked to your credit card that you provide when you sign up for the cruise. we did have cash we converted to the international currency (of where we happened to be) to buy souvenirs. we are planning another cruise in June 2008 and now...we are budgeting $100 a day per person....excluding any excursions you might sign up for. those are extra also. depending on the excursion..anywhere from $50 to $200 or more per person. talk to your travel agent to get tips. they have been on many cruises/vacations. once that is all said and done and determined...relax and have a wonderful trip.

Just enough for tips...

If you are going to another country remember to check how many dollars for pesos, etc. Hotels will always give good deals on exchange rates.

Credit cards are good on the ship. Remember that ATM'S will gouge you in other countries...so will credit cards...$100.00 a day per person cash should be enough.
