My friends says I'll need to get shots for yellow fever, is she right?
Yes, and for other water borne diseases. Your doctor will know which ones you need.

Your friend is so wrong. I'm in Jamaica right now and trust me, you would only need those shots for your own peice of mind. You dont have to take my word for it though , you can visit www.visitjamaica.com, they should have all the info you need.

No. I was born in Jamaica and I travel there all the time and I never took a shot for yellow fever and I never got sick. People travel to the caribbean all the time without taking shots and they return home perfectly fine. People just think that when you are visiting a foreign country you are in danger of contracting something. If it makes you feel better you can take the shot but I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Here is a link to the Centers for Disease Control. I checked this out before I went to Jamaica in March. Since I wasn't going anywhere near Kingston, (we went to Montego Bay) I was told I would be okay. I still only drank bottled water.

I am English and have lived all my life in England but have visited Jamaica six times now and have never ever had any "shots". In addition, the drinking water in Jamaica tastes better than the drinking water in UK. I have also visited Nigeria without any "shots". I believe these "shots" are a scam to make extra profits for the drug companies. I am 52 years old and have never had one single "shot" before going either to the Caribbean or to Africa
