I'll be going in August and know it's hurricane season. Do I really have reason to worry? |

They say that El Conquistador is a 5 star hotel but in reality is expensive and they say that you don't get what you pay for(especially for the rooms and service). I've been to the hotel but I haven't stayed there, the pool are is really beautiful it has a nice view to the east coast, to the islands of Palomino and Palominito. They have a daily service to the island of Palomino, but I preffer Palominito which is smaller and have cristaline waters.
You don't have to worry that much about hurricanes because even though it's hurricane season, most hurricanes come in the month of september(Mid-september).
Have a nice trip! |

It is a gorgeous place to stay. You picked a very nice place.
My best friend and I stayed there and we had the best time. It has nice pool areas and is just very luxurious. You will not regret staying there. And don't worry about the hurricanes. There was a really bad storm coming through when we were staying there and they make sure they move everyone to a safe place. There is also a casino inside and an ice creme place and other places where you can eat and if you have kids there is a game room. It is just overall a wonderful hotel to stay at. And again, great choice! |

I would not worry about hurricanes (you could always take out travel insurance if you are concerned).
The Conquistador is top class hotel and is located on the north east tip of Puerto Rico about 45-60 mins from San Juan. You will be close to Fajardo, so you could in principle easily take a day trip to the island of Culebra (ferry from Fajardo).
If you get chance, try to take a trip into Old San Juan, you will not be dissapointed.
also visit El Yunque (rainforest)
One thing; food at the Conquistador will not be cheap.
For more ideas for seeing what the island has to offer, check out http://www.visit-the-coqui.com |

I live here and have stayed twice at the Conquistador. It is a 5 star hotel with great service. You won't have to worry about storms or anything such because they are prepared. Now it is wonderful. They have apartments like that are georgeous and comfortable. You can take the tram and go down to the lower part where you can take a boat and go to a small island outwards and visit. There is a restaurant on the first floor where you can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and the prices are great. You can get breakfast in your room if you want. The beds are comfortable and the rooms spacious. So I know you will enjoy your stay there. |

Can I come? You are going to have a wonderful time. Enjoy every sun shower because that is all it is breathtaking too. If you ever in "Isla Verde" it right off the airport to your right. I recommend the "Metropoli" restaurant for a fantastic and delicious Cuban cuisine. Enjoy your trip! |

It's fantastic. They have their own private cay (Palominito) that has a gorgeus white sand beach and watersports. They also have a magnificent, top rated spa. Whoever talked about widespread power outages has been out of touch with the Island for decades, ditto for the ones that say this is the only 5 star hotel. There is great shopping about 30-35 minutes away in Carolina, and fantastic restaurants along the coast; ask the concierge for a recommendation. The secondary road leading from the highway to the hotel vicinity is not beautiful, but you'll be happy you took it! |

El Conquistador is the only 5 star hotel in PR so yes it's a good place to stay (there are better hotels and paradores however.) Hurricane season is June-Nov (worst in recent years has been heavy rains). The only thing you will need for "hurricane season" is a sturdy umbrella, poncho and a smile.
Have fun |
