I have been searching the web as well for good useful information about Punta Cana - we are going to Club Med, the following is what I found useful:
I have search many websites and read a lot of tips and stuff about Punta Cana Club Med. This is a summery:
Bring everything you need - the gift shop is expensive.
Bring sunsreen and bug spray (I would suggest go all out and get the Deep Woods - but make sure that both are water and sweat proof)
Bring several bathing suits
Towels are provided
All meals are buffet style and each night there is a different theme for the dinner
To keep the A/C on in the room during the day - some how jimmy a piece of cardboard or the spare room key into the unit (can't say any more or I would start to call it this thingy or that dowagle) other wise the room temp goes to a nice 75 degrees.
Some rooms are a good walk to activities - don't wine and cry about - enjoy the excersize and quality time with someone.
The enclosed dining room tends to be a bit warm at night.
There is a disco that opens up at 11:30pm.
The bars have some decent liquor - I read on one post they served him Absolute Vodka.
The staff that will help us (Club Med staff) are suppose to be very friendly, upbeat and helpful - they are called GO's.
The Cheif (manager to folks in Georgia) of the village is very hands on and makes sure that all guest receive top service.
There is security guards that patrol the village - I read no complaints about crime at PC.
The trip from the airport to PC is about 10 minutes and I beleive that someone from Olivia will be picking up.
The village is pretty secluded, on google earth did not see anything close by.
There is a shipwreck a bit out to sea that has been a favorite for snorkeling.
Most of the staff of the PC speak several languages - and the club tends to draw a lot of French people (thus many of the staff also speak French)
Suggestions were made not to go into town by yourself - but a group is fine. The crime jumps in town and some folks like to prey on tourists.
Money exchange should be done at a reputable place (like a bank or something with a solid structure) instead of on the street with someone and a card table.
They do have computers that you can rent and go to the internet in the loby - but have been told they are a bit pricey.
They will provide you with two bottles of water a day no matter how many you have stashed in the fridge.
The rooms do not have chest of drawers, but the closets are very spacious. There is also a safe in the room for valuables.
I hope that helps - as I read more I will post.
Below is also a website that I found helpful with maps and suggestions, if traveling off of an all-inclusive. |

So am I, Dont for get your passport ( last time I went you didnt need one). Check with your airlines on bagggage and what and what not you can bring.....Comfortable shoes most resorts are large and alot of walking ( mine has a train) had one at the last resort and missed it a few times...Lived in flip flops...I needed orange ones to match a dress, went into town they tried to sell me "designer rubber flip flops" for 25.00. I haggled back and got them for 12.00 which was still to much. So dont for get the shoes. I am afraid to go into town at night so a All inclusive rsort
with shows, bars, and casino is tha way to go... Have a great time... |

Learn more than adios in Spanish. It is better to really aware of your surroundings in foreign countries. Pick up a book from the book store of D.Rep...one that tells you a bit of the local lingo..just in case someone tries to pull something over on you. Sad to say...but people are not nice everywhere...and if u live in the US other countries that are more on the poverty side look at you as wealth!!!! |
