Cuba is an amazing places - full of contrasts.

A communist country which dances to a salsa beat.

A macho latin culture where ballet dancing is highly regarded.

Sometimes you might think that everyone is trying to cheat you out of a little bit of money, and other times that they are the most generous people you have ever met.

As well as the beaches, Cuba has attractive hill-country, a number of unesco world heritage sitestown and country) (, the aforementioned music, dancing, an active movie industry.

Lucky you! It's wonderful to step out of the plane to warm air. The beaches are marvellous and the people are very kind.

Tropicales
It is the most amazing island you can ever go to. Very different from all the others. It's the people who make Cuba special. Despite any kind of circumstances they have, there is always a smile on their faces and make the most of everything. Always singing, always working hard, and always going out of their way to make you happy.
The island is beautiful...the water is clear turquoise, the sand is white and soft, and each part of Cuba is different than the other. Some parts are more mountainous than the others. You will find such old historical culture amidst modern life....you will find life and vibrancy, the love of music, salsa, merengue and so much more.
You'll go to Cuba and never want to miss a chance to go back.
Have an amazing time on your trip. And wherever you are in Cuba, you will be sure to have a great time. Just one suggestion....whatever hotel you are staying at, make sure you book a room that is not the ground floor. Cuba is tropical and you will always find that the first floors can be damp...If you can, try and take some little souvenirs for the friends you'll make in Cuba. They appreciate little things to help them out and remember you by.

¡Buen viaje! Have a great trip!

***PS: by the way, some have said the food isn't that great, even the authentic Cuban cuisine...that's not true. The food is great and there is a lot of variety...your breakfasts will be amazing -- definitely not Tim Horton's, as many people who I've come across at the resorts who complained about the food, have for breakfast here...nothing to complain about, which they realized after awhile when they thought about it. It's not North American food. It tastes better, fresher, healthier.
And the resort prices are not that expensive, especially for the all-inclusives. You really do get your money's worth, whether you book in advance or travel last minute. They are not catered to only Europeans. Anywhere you travel you will find resorts of different standards/rates. Just make sure you book a hotel that is no less than a 4*. You'll be guaranteed good accommodation and food quality, entertainment, drinks, activities, etc......
One's vacation is all in one's attitude...

Go and have fun!!

we went to varadero a couple of years ago and loved every minute of it and do plan to return. I do not know if it is a beach holiday or sightseeing you are going for. The people are the warmest and friendly, the food is good. If you can take extra toiletries as they are expensive over there so instead of people asking for money they appreciate these far more. In varedero we did not have to contend with street sellers on your back like in other countries, we swam with dolphins which was fantastic and went horse back riding along the beach. Make sure you watch the sunset from a beach it is beautiful. Enjoy your holiday and i am sure you will want to return.

Cuba is wonderful, the people are some of the warmest, most sincere people you will ever have the pleasure of meeting. The beaches are some of the best in the Caribbean, likewise the scenery. The history is nothing short of fascinating and if you go to Havana, Trinidad or Santiago de Cuba you will see both the old and the newer history. Check the sites below and you will find lots of information. If you go once, chances are you will return. Have a great trip and enjoy.

Every answer given so far (except for the first one) is right. It's an unbelievable experience. You'll love it. Some of the most wonderful people I've ever met were Cubans.

Well - that's an interesting question. Depends where you go.

if you're going to be staying at the fancy resorts catering to foreign (mostly European) tourists, it won't be too different from other tropical resorts. Prices there are pretty high, not surprisingly. Better to get out on the streets, meet the local people. They're quite friendly, and will make your visit a great experience!

Cuba does have a bit of a down at the heels, kind of shabby look, given the limited resources of the country. You'll find a lot of old, 1950s American automobiles running around, which is kind of fun.

Foodwise, don't expect too much. I've heard that the quality and availabilty of decent Cuban cuisine, compared with what you can get in South Florida, is mixed, probably due to unstable availability of raw materials and foodstuffs.

Enjoy the rum and the cigars!

It's like watching TV in black and white

don't lay anything down on a park bench. It will be gone in the blink of an eye. Horrible place to go I wish you luck.
