actually, in a taxi its optional. but always for a child's safety, no matter what, its always highly recommended to put a child in a car seat. specially in puerto rico, which driving its pretty crazy.

different countries have different laws regarding child seat use. you may want to check out their main tourism site to get the answer. i believe that children under the age of four are required to have a seat in puerto rico (else a $100 fine). perhaps you will be able to prearrange something before arriving. the best bet would be to contact someone down there. good luck.
