You will see that Dominicans are the most warm hearted person you will meet, all we care is to make tourist feel welcome and at home. Even if takes to do sign language to comunicate since we only speak Spanish, however on resorts staffs speak several languages.

There are several tourist places in the DR and it all depends on the type of tourism you want to do. We have it all basically, we have a mini desert in the south called “Dunas de Baní” with an amazing beach called “Salinas”. Also in the south you will have “Barahona” city with natural untouched rivers going into nice surfing beaches. You will also find big relax Resorts in Punta Cana and Bavaro in the East, while on the North part of the island you will find Resorts with so much outside/city activities in where is called “Puerto Plata” city. If you want to experience the country or high mountains atmosphere Puerto Plata, Pico Duarte, La Vega, Samana will be the places to go. Also Samana city specifically “Las Terrenas” is a hidden place where you will have the fun of your life, Resorts are the best and you can easily without no fear walk the little town of Las Terrenas and experience the normal life in the DR. No matter where you go the people are very welcoming so I’m sure will love to come back.

i have been to one part of DR called punta cana. had a great time at the sirenis cocotal beach resort. got it at double occupancy for $632.00 just got back last week. the deal came from www.vacmart.com another great website is www.cheapcaribbean.com
also www.travelzoo.com will show you each week great deals from about 10 or so websites each week. it's free so sign up for it. back to the resort where i went. most of the people who worked there spoke english. those who didn't got one helluva E for excellent effort. what i loved about the animation group (activities coordinators) is that most spoke between 3+ languages. i stayed more in the pool than the beach. it was beautiful. swim up bars, playing volleyball with people of different languages. words can't explain the beauty of seeing people of different languages and color having a great time togeather. wish it was like that in everyday life. since it isn't i am going back in february. anyway the people are great. they deserve wayyyyyyyyy more than they get paid. everyone loves it when people of other languages make an attempt to speak their language so while it is not mandatory it won't hurt to learn a few phrases of spanish, french, german, dutch, italian, japanese, or whatever other language that tickles your fancy. if you go to an all inclusive resort, tips, drinks, etc are included. i tipped extra because the people went wayyyyyyyyy beyond the call of duty, especially housekeeping. best of fun to ya whereever you decide to go in the dominican republic.

what exactly would you like to know about it my friend ? and please dont listen to the m.tv weekend warrior that just came out of his closet and is disgracing the country with his ignorace because he returned with unlived coconut fantasies and probably got taken by every hustler on the street because he wears black socks and sandals with a sun visor and a party animal tee shirt. . stay home and GO TO YOUR SWIM CLUB SKIPPY ! and bring your 3 b s with ya . .lol lol lol . obvously another seasoned travel expert ready to take over anthony bourdains slot on the travel channel after putting away his x box and taking his first 3 day pilgrimage out side his country to a cheap all inc resort. ..... enlighten us beach ball boy . BUT FOR THE SHORT , yes the people are so great that i ended up staying 2 years and many of them do speak english ( in the tourist areas ). WHEN columbus came to the island he said it was one of the most beautiful places hed laid eyes on and i think he was understating the truth . ( I REALLY LEARNED how to live living in the d.r . as the dominicans have taught me about a quality of life thats unattainable in the u.s . a life where less is actually more and happiness and fun times does not depend on how much one has or what they do but rather who he or she is and though most dominicans are economically poor , they are some of the richest people youll ever meet. the whole country is like one never ending song that you cant get out of your head but wouldnt want to even if you could . its much better experienced than explained . go and check it out for yourself and than decide whos got it right and who the real poor ones are .
