HELP PLEASE Destroyed birth certificate, leaving Friday on cruise.?
My husbands mothers house flooded and his birth certificate was destroyed. We are leaving in 3 days for the cruise and there is no way to get a NY birth certificate in that time living in Florida, He has no passport. Is there anything we can do?
We can not cancel cause we will forfeit everything.
Can't you find some proof of identity, or proof of citizenship? If you have a drivers license or naturalization certificate that will do. Do you have a permanent resident card? All these things you can use. As soon as you comes back apply for a passport because you will need if from June 1, 2009.

Try calling the clerk of court in NY and tell them your situation. They may be able to let you pay over the phone and fax you a copy or mail it overnight. It's worth a try. That's what I would do. Or maybe you know someone in NY that could do it for you. Call on a long lost relative!

We sent our birth certificates in to apply for our passports. A week before the cruise we realized that the passport would not arrive in time and we had no birth certificates. Mine was no problem as my brother still lives where I was born so he just went down to the County building and sent it to me. My husband ordered his through vitalcheck. It arrived in about 48 hours. Costly but definitely worth it.
