HOW DO I GET FROM THE AIRPORT lN MONTEGO BAY TO THE RESORTS IN NEGRIL?

Take a public bus. Catch a short taxi ride to downtown Montego Bay bus area. The taxi driver may try to talk you into a ride all the way to Negril because they charge tourists a lot for a private taxi. Catch a public bus to Lucea which will only be equivalent to a few U.S. dollars. Once in Lucea, catch another public bus to Negril, again very economical. It's great fun if you are up for the adventure and travel light.

There are many people waiting for you to provide transportation as soon as you leave the airport doors, so a ride will not be problem.

Of course you can book transportation via your travel agent. However, you can always take a Taxi from the airport. They are damn near fighting to get a fare. All the Taxi drivers know where the resorts are so that shouldn't be a problem.

Negotiate a price first, before you get in the cab.
No exceptions.

You will get to your destination quicker by cab as you'll be the only drop off unlike the transport buses. The scenery to the hotels and resorts are beautiful, so enjoy the ride.

I would pre-book with the resort and take the resort's shuttle from the airport.

I don't know about regular Jamaican buses.

Also, don't rent a car and drive - I did that and it was one of the most nerve-wracking experiences I ever had. I found that the atmosphere outside of the resorts in Montego Bay was hostile.

You Shouldn't Have

Check with your travel agent, the hotel may provide transportation to and from. Is that the bus your talking about?

Score a taxi at the airport BUT! Always agree on price first. If the driver won't agree find another driver, there are tons of them. You can also ask someone at the airport counters to recommend a particular driver who is known to be honest.

If your hotel doesn't have a shuttle at the airport you can request a driver when you get out of customs. They have drivers which are licensed for airport/hotel/tour transport. I wouldn't advise public transportation if you're not familiar with the system.

Take a taxi if you haven't already pre-booked your transfers w/ a travel agent.

Expect to pay between $40 - $60 each way from MBJ to Negril. Set the price before getting in the cab, make sure they are are a JUTO Cab, All JUTO cabs have red PPV plates (Public Passenger Vehicle) along with regular license plates.
