Haiti and Dominican Republic unification?

I know there has been a lot of history between Haiti and the D.R. Most of it negative than positive. But over the past several years relationship has been on the rise between the two nations. what do all of you think of a Unification of Hispaniola. Both countries were "one" for 40 years.. And if not tell me what you think the nations can do to keep the good love around

Haiti would never submit itself to unifying with the Dominicans that is just crazy. Haiti might be an poor nation but they are proud.

I agree that will never happen! Dominicans are prejudiced against Haitians and the Dominicans celebrate their independance on 27th of February and will NEVER EVER let that happen again!

Haiti ravaged their country and it is in turmoil because they cut down every tree for charcoal to cook with causing flooding and deaths! The Dominican Republic has a BIG army presence on the boarder to keep them out because of severe illegal immigration!

Unfortunately the problems in Haiti overflow to the DR and they are trying to contain the problems here!

Generally spoken, this is impossible! Haiti is a lost cause! To save Haiti and to remodelate this entire country you need 200
years minimum! So Dominican will not accept that, they have their own growing pains to deal with.

NO Im proud of my country (DR) and I dont just want them to mix with another country, thats like america joining with cananda

I think it will happen someday but it would take more than a hundred years. And the only way this can happen is when Haiti drastically improves its HDI because DR is way ahead right now. So maybe when Haiti is not poor anymore we can unify the Island.
