Yes Love to Jump is right on the money i think thats a good outsider perspective. And Diddle is funy with the food network comment. You will probably be able to find food more catered to your North American (assuming) tastes if you find the local food is ot to your liking, but be sure to try it.
Ahh the Great Ketchup Debate I HATE HATE HATE American Ketchup, way too tangy but love love love Grace Ketchup cause it so nice and sweet LOL |

I was in Jamaica a few weeks ago. I stayed at an orphanage with kids from my church to help with projects there. The food was a lot different than American food. Not bad, just different. Most Jamaican meats are spicy and has bones in it. Even if its in a soup or something like that, it might still have bones, so be careful of that. We also spent a few days in Mo Bay. There, we had more choices for food and were able to find a pizza hut and a few restaurants with more "american" choices like hamburgurs. I suggest you try something called a juci patty. It's Jamaican fast food. It's like meat in a pastry shell. Different, but good. I hope this helps! Have a great time in Jamaica! It's such a beautiful country! |

Our food is great! Generally, a little spicy but really good.
Actually, many of our visitors list the food as one of the pluses from the island.

We stayed at one of the all inclusive resorts there and some of the food is really good and some is just average. I didn't really have any really bad experiences. The Jerk chicken they are famous for is about the same...really good in some places and not so good in others.
They definitely don't do ketchup well down there. I know a lot of people that bring their own ketchup in there suitcase because the Jamaican stuff is awful. |

I've been to Mo Bay (Montego Bay) and Ocho Rios and frankly I did not find the food to be great. The best Jamaican food I've ever had was in Miami. In Mo Bay and Ocho Rios, even when we went into "town" the food seemed very much geared toward catering to tourists. Didn't enjoy it at all. |

I've been to Jamaica...to an all-inclusive. I ate both at the resort and along the road at a Jerk stand. Honestly, I thought it was gross...so gross that when we just planned our honeymoon, I did NOT want to return to Jamaica. Truly...where we went it was bad. I heard the food at the Sandals there was fine, though. |
