Funny, I just answered a question regarding a where to honeymoon and suggested the Iberostar in Mexico.

Anyway, my wife and I liked that Iberostar so much that a year later we went to the Iberostar in Punta Cana.

What a beach! Absolutely gorgeous. Great weather.

But I have to be honest and say that while we had a good time I probably will not go back. First our luggage was "lost." Of course a day later we got it back but not without what we thought were veiled and not so veiled attempts at getting shaken down. The resorts have armed guards at the front gates and both ends of their beaches. We rented a room safe but the friends that we were with did not. Their room got broken into - ours did not even though the rooms were both next to each other. Hmmmm, wonder how that happened. I just felt like everyone was trying to "get over on me." You know, take me for money for whatever the heck it was.

So for whatever it is worth, a beautiful place with great weather but there are so many other places to explore and visit so I probably won't go back. If you are intent on visiting there I say check out Iberostar.

We went last January and stayed at the Riu Bambu through Apple Tours. They're right about the armed guards -- but if you don't go off the property, you won't even know they're there. The Riu is a group of hotels with connecting beaches and facilities, so you've got a lot of restaurants and bars to choose from. You are supposed to eat dinner at your "home" hotel, but can make reservations elsewhere. The Riu is all buffet-style except for, I think, one steak restaurant. If you're going for the quality of the food, pick a more expensive property. If you're going for quantity, you'll be pleased with the Bambu.

If you're planning on eating pizza -- they put corn on it. I couldn't quite bring myself to try it.

Just got back last week,we stayed at Sunscape the Beach,it is an all inclusive resort it has 9 bars 8 restaurants 1 disco 1 casino.the place is very nice dont listen to the negative reviews ,we were concern before ,once there you see it is not true what some people said about the place.your best bet is contact Apple tours they have a counter in the resort and also in the airport, you dont have to worry about tranfer to resort everything is already pay for.just go and enjoy.if you there see Griselda and Marilyn tell them the cuban from nj says hi.
Dont go to Habana it is ilegal to US citicents

sun scape the beach is great!!! at this resort you can see the mountains from the front of the resort. my family and i stayed there in January 2006. the resort is very clean. the staff is wonderful and understand English. we enjoyed the beach. me and the kids swam in the ocean. we did this a little father down the beach. if you and see a log up on the beach that is where we swam in that area was more sandy. the food was great my daughter who is very picky found lots to eat. we enjoyed a small bar in the courtyard. it was quite and the bartender wandy (pronounced randy) and the waitress Sondra were wonderful. tips go a long way. but you do not have to tip. the only bad thing about it was the trip to the hotel. it is about an hour away from airport on very bumpy roads. other than that it was a wonderful vacation for us.
