Yes I have been there plenty of times & I have also been to the Bronx. They really don't compare except that there are alot of puertoricans in the bronx so there is puertorican culture somewhat & spanish language & music. But Puerto Rico is completely different & better! It is tropical weather- hot & sunny all year. The island has beautiful beaches everywhere & lush green mountains. There is 'El Yunque' rain forest & many other natural attractions like Camuy caves & 3 bilouminescent Bays(they glow in the dark, beautifu). The people are friendly, you might notice a slighty different style from people int he Bronx also. Like bronx people are typical american city people & usually dress in a hiphop style & now there are many people w/ this style in PR, but alot of people also dress w/ a surfer style. PR has some neighborhoods that might compare to the Bronx, like La Perla- A tough neighborhood in San Juan. There are also big housing projects too. But for the most part PR would compare to suburbs of the US & San Juan to a clean beautiful city. The food is great & music too! |

i have been there. i would not say that all the people are mean. i just did not like many of the people. they were rude to tourists and it's not a really nice place to visit. very old / downtown is sleazy. i'd say worse than the bronx. there are many nice tourist hotels .. i'd stay in one of those and stay near where the crowds are going. the rain forest there outside of san juan is lovely and many of the areas outside of san juan are like typical suburban areas we have here in the states. |

I grew up in Ohio and visited NY and now live in PR, it is nothing like the Bronx. PR people on the island are extremely nice. It is the only place where people regularly say "hi" to you especially since they don't know you. Anywhere you go you will find rude people but I think the tropical weather makes people spend alot more time hanging out together and talking, something you don't see on a regular basis in other places. |

Been to Puerto Rico - loved the El Conquistador Hotel. Puerto Ricans are regular people - very nice by and large. I've nevr been to the bronx so no comparison, If you go, be sure to check out the fort in Old San Juan. They have lots of good restaurants - try the churrasco if you like red meat. |

Thats kinda stupid. The Bronx? It's not tropical.
You could kinda assume that the reason puerto ricans in the bronx are all bitchy is because its nothing like their home. the weather isnt the same, the air isnt close to the same, the climate isnt the same.
On the same note, i went to puerto rico with normal amounts of acne, like a few bumps here and there, a couple zits. i was outside a lot, and swam in the ocean every day almost, and ate lots of PR food. I dont know what it was, but my skin was in the best condition ever when i got back. |

I live here, the people are very hospitable. You can't really compare PR to the Bronx.. it's 2 different worlds. |
