Has anyone ever been to Puerto Rico? |
I am wondering on how a vacation would be to Puerto Rico. Also, what are the best deals/best hotels to stay at, that not only offer a lot of activities, have beautiful views, beach front, but also close to many attractions, and possibly san juan.
Please help, thank you... |

Puerto Rico is called the Island of Enchantment & for good reason! There is so much to do. I would suggest staying atleast some of the time in San Juan. San Juan has all the historical sights like 'El Morro' the ancient spanish war fort that sits next to the ocean. There are old cathedrals & Old San Juan has cobblestone streets & old spanish colonial architecture. There are casinos, restaraunts, lots of shopping, nightlife, beaches, watersports, history & more. Isla Verde is a nice beach in San Juan & only a short taxi ride from OldSan Juan. There are nice hotels here, but they are pricey. You can
stay in San Juan or outside of San Juan if you'd like. Dorado is only 25 mins from San Juan. Or you can split your time. Stay sometime in San Juan & sometime somewhere else.
PR has great sights outside of San Juan also. & nothing is more than a few hours drive. I suggest renting a car or taking bus trips(which might cost more if its a few ppl) so you can see everything. On the east near Fajardo there is 'El Yunque' the rain forest & you can walk down to La Mina waterfalls & take a dip in the refreshing water. Thats really cool. Plus Luquillo beach nearby is nice. & from Fajardo u can take a ferry to Vieques island which has great beaches & the Bioluminescent Bay (it glows in the dark when u touch it) you can take a kayak tour to the bay, its amazing. Or you can take the ferry to Culebra Island & visit Flamenco beach which the travel channel voted as 1 of the worlds best beaches! Its the whitest sand & clearest water u can see. In Fajardo or on 1 of these islands might be a good place to stay for a night or 2 as well. Fajardo has great top of the line resorts & Vieques & Culebra have quiet private villas.
If you go west from San Juan to the northern area you can visit camuy caves which is the 3rd largest cave system in the world! Its cool- u go down on a tram & then the tour starts. There is also the Arecibo Telescope which is the worlds largest radio telescope. You can see it on movies like 'Contact' & 'Jamesbond Goldeneye'. If you go farther west Rincon is the surfers paradise. Down south is Ponce which is a large city also. There are alot of museums & sights there as well. & the central region has alot of gorgeous mountain views. Whatever u like! ENJOY PR!! |

Been there several times, I love it. In San Juan the Condado is a very popular area to stay in, as is Old San Juan, but I stayed at the Hosteria del Mar in Ocean Park. I could take a bus to either the Condadao (about a mile away) or to Old San Juan.
But getting out in the countryside is good. we visited Ponce on the southern coast and spent time in the interior (jajuga, Utuado) and the coat (Boqueron, El Parguera). The Paradores Puertoriquenas are a great option - historic small hotels with good rates in important areas. |

If you're looking for lots of activity, definitely San Juan. There's great beaches, great bars, and colonial Old San Juan, where you can see the huge Morro fort.
Nonetheless, all of Puerto Rico is within driving distance of the capital and so it wouldn't be too hard to make a few trips around the island. Ponce is another great city to visit.
Also, if you are at all able--go to Culebra Island!! The Travel Channel ranked it the 2nd best beach in the world. The island is a 1hr ferry ride from Fajardo, which is a few hours from San Juan. Culebra is almost completely undeveloped with no high rises or anything, and it's surrounded by coral reefs. |

Im Puertorrican so I can help you out!
A lot of people may think that Puerto Rico is a filthy place, but it's beaches and diferent places are in the aTop 10 Places of the World!
If you happen to come here, You should travel all around the island! It's not very big, it's like 4 hours from one side to the other so i think you should go to:
San Juan - The Beautiful Capital of Puertor Rico home of ''El Morro'' wich is a fort the Spanish people built when Christopher Columbus got here to protect the island from Pirates! It's a beautiful place with a lot of interesting history!
Arecibo - Believe it or not, Arecibo has the biggest observatory in the entire world! It's really fascinating!
Rincón - Omggg! I just wanna be there right know on a hamac drinking some Piña Colada! Yesss, it has many beaches! If are a surfer, you have some beaches for surfing too!
Ponce- My Hometown! WoooHooo! It has great beaches, many historical places like ''El Parker de Los Bomberos'' ''El Museo de Arte de Ponce'' [A Firefighter Park & A Museum]
Great Hotels: Don't Worry Sweetie, We have your hotels too! Just relax at the Hilton in San Juan! One of the best hotels in the island! And plus, it's in the capital!
Hope I Helped! Wish You come and have a great time!
