I have been to St. John USVI 3 times in the past 2 years. Very safe Island on very beautiful-If you have time take a tour/ferry over to the BVI awesome places to drink and the most beautiful beaches in the world. I can send you pictures if you would like. |

St. Thomas is great especially during carnival. There is always something to do and the scenery is beautiful. The beaches are nice and peaceful. |

We stayed at the Buccaneer on St. Croix and are planning to go back in a couple of years. St. Croix is great because you can get direct flights from the U.S., but it's less touristy than St. Thomas. Christiansted is nice town for shopping and dining. The Buccaneer is in a great location: close to town nightlife, but very quiet at night if that's what you want. There isn't much to see on St. Croix except old sugar mills and the rain forest (which is a fun jeep ride from Christiansted to Frederiksted).
All in all, a relaxing vacation spot with just enough nightlife, dining and shopping. And no currency exchange necessary. |

Hi
I lived in the Virgin Islands for a while. In St. Croix actually. St. Thomas is quite busy but the beaches are beautiful!. St. John's is like a paradise! The waters are breath taking! On St. Croix I went boating and visited Buck Island. It is easy to meet people and make friends. |

It depends on which one of the islands you intend to visit.
For example, St. Thomas (the best one in my eyes) has a lot of daytime and nighttime activities. You can visit mountain top and see the veiw, drink some very good alcohol :)
Main street is where the most popular tourist attraction is when it comes to shopping.
There's also the Atlantis submarine, and the BOB ..some kind of scuba diving thing with a huge *** helmet on your head.
The nightlife included the Greenhouse, where there's local food and music. Off Shore Bar and Restaurant, basically the same thing.
There are many places to shop and eat. Too many things to see and do. It all depends on how long your staying. |

Sorry, I don t agree with all these people recommending St Thomas. The crime is horrendous. Can 't go anywhere after dark, male or female. Even St John has had a big surge in crime. Cruise ships don t even stop at St Croix anymore due to tourists being attacked during the day! The solution is the BVI, British Virgin Islands..more quiet than St Thomas, but still lots to do and SAFE! My favorite is Virgin Gorda, but Tortola has more nightlife.. Easy to get to from San Juan or from St Thomas.. You can always take a day trip to St Thomas for shopping... |

I lived in St. Thomas from 2003-2006. It is a great place for vacation or to live like I did. St. thomas has the most things to do and has the most nightlife out of the three Islands. If you are looking for peace and quiet, St. John is the best bet. It is sparsely populated and 2/3 of the island is a National park. However, St. John is only accessible by ferry from St. Thomas, while St. Thomas and St. Croix are accessable by air from many major US Cities (Miami, New York, Charlotte, Boston, etc) The Virgin Islands has beaches that have been rated in the top 10 in the world (Magen's Bay in St. Thomas and Trunk bay in St. John.) If shopping is your thing, St. thomas has some of the best duty-free shopping in the caribbean. But the shops can be overrun with tourists when the cruise ships are in port. I have only been to St. Croix once, and I found it to be less touristy than St. thomas. Also, the local people are very couteous and friendly. |

British Virgin Islands... right next door to the US VI, just as beautiful but less commercialized.
Fishing is excellent. I stayed at Maria's on the main island of Tortola.
Daily boats to US-VI for shopping.
Beautiful beaches on all islands, best amenities and shopping on Tortola.
Relaxed atmosphere and only 1 intersection with traffic lights on the whole island.
All day boat tours to various beaches a must. |
